I still have the unlimited data plan, but was actually thinking about switching to this plan, due to my data usage only being around 600 or less MB each month.... Haven't decided if it's worth it to only save $5 each month though.

ok, my daughter just streamed stuart little 3 (75 min.) on netflix. i just checked my account and that ate 246MB of data. i guess if you stream a lot of video, it wouldn't be hard to go over 2GB.

yeah i came over from verizon on the launch of the iphone 4, so at first i was like wtf, this sucks, only 2gb...

but now in my 3rd billing month, so far i average about 300MB/mo... i get nowhere near 2GB, but if i chose the 200MB for $15/mo, i'd be goin over every month.

wow

that sucks!, i'm with Fido in Canada, and as a perk for renewing my contract for another 3 years fido added 3gb to my exisiting iphone plan for free(i didn't have data before). The moral of my brief story is you must negotiate!!

Since April(when I came back to AT&T and had a 3GS) the most I have used in a month is 155.5mb, that was last month. The lowest was last June and I only used 53.7MB. So this 2GB cap doesn't really effect me, in my case I'm happy because I save five dollars a month.

My parents use iPhones and they use maybe 50MBs at most a month (I know because I pay the bill). So for them even the 250MB plan is sufficient. For me, I use maybe 50-100GBs, so I need my unlimited plan.

I also had to get the 2gb data plan. I have wifi at home and thought everything would be ok, but I went on vacation last week and no wifi. Used the phone for 3 days and I went over my 2gb plan. I did not even watch videos. I just download two apps, and everything else was just looking up stuff on Safari.

Peasants: 2GB Data Plans? WTF?

If I didnt have wifi almost everywhere I go, I would go over 2gb. But since its always on wifi, I only use about 200mb. And im lucky to have unlimited.

2GB or 2MB? If it's 2GB in only 3 days, this seems a bit excessive for just downloading 2 apps, and looking things up in safari...... I look stuff up via safari everyday while I'm at work on a 3G connection, and don't come close to even 600MB in a 30 day period.

I've been trying really hard this month to see what I can hit.

With my phone JB, moderate Netflix use and down loading a few TV episodes i'm at 1.8gb with 9 days left on my cycle.

I have wifi everywhere so I consider this pretty impressive. I cannot understand how anyone gets to 8gb?

Think about it - you mention that with moderate netflix use and wifi pretty much everywhere, you nearly hit 2GB on your data - seem to me it would be pretty easy to hit 8GB. Or did you mean this month you turned off wifi and got to 1.8 gigs?

I'm charged SGD$30 a month for my mobile phone plan with unlimited messages to anyone, 100 minutes free outgoing and free incoming calls.

There is a free data bundle with it, and it's 12 GB. Anyone jealous? I guess when one telco started to introduce 12 GBs of data, all the other telcos had to follow (government thing), and thus, it has become a standard.

Come live in Singapore! hahaha. I feel weird saying that.

Not jealous at all because I would trade the 12gb for 2gb to live in America. I love America. I am proud to be born here.

I downgraded to the $15 200MB plan from the original $30 unlimited plan... because I looked at the roughly 1.5 years I had the iPhone 3G and I haven't hit 200MB lifetime at this point.

My "worst" month was still less than 12MB... and I average around 5MB.

There are a lot of WiFi hotspots around where I live and I use WiFi at home as well... so I almost never am in a situation where I only have access to 3G and need to access a bunch of data.

Peasants: 2GB Data Plans? WTF?

ROFL :p

now that work is slow ill use 500mb or more a day..netflix/pandora/web/youtube keeps me from boredness..im already close to7GB data this month...yeah does suck to have 2GB if you use iphone a lot...if i was new to att and thinking about getting the iphone i would of gone to a different carrier with unlimited data 2GB will last me 4/7 days...

In this day and age how can anyone charge $25 for 2GB of anything??
Clearly AT&T is trying to throttle their bandwidth to iPhone users.

I use my iPhone more on wifi, mostly because my home network is faster than AT&T's 3G network. But I agree $25 is insane for only 2GB of data use and their $15 200MB plan is just a joke, that's why I'm keeping my $30 unlimited(5GB) plan. I may never use more than 2GB with AT&T's data plan each month, but I like having the extra just in case I go over. The overage fees are outrageous.

here in portugal 600mb = 15€. so i guess you're lucky for having 2gb for 25 bucks.

Clearly AT&T is trying to throttle their bandwidth to iPhone users.

To be fair, they're applying these rules to all smartphone users (and the iPad too). They aren't singling out the iPhone.

That said, I wish their plans didn't have such stupid gaps. There's a hell of a difference between 200 MB and 2 GB, just as there is between 200 texts and 1500. It's ridiculous. They should be offering more plans, in more sensible increments, and going up to at least 5 GB.

AT&T starting doing this specifically because of the iPhone, then other carriers saw it as a way to make more money and will be jumping on board.

That fact is that AT&T's terrible network just couldn't handle the demand and should have never gotten its exclusive contract with the iPhone. Talk about putting the cart before the horse. Now they are basically punishing iPhone users with plans that in reality cost us more for what we get, in an attempt to throttling our network use.

I have a 6GB limit per month and It is more than enough (I don't think I will ever use 6GB). Who uses 50-100GB per month on a phone? Stop being so cheap and get a home internet plan.

The most I've used in a month is 600MB. Though granted I don't stream stuff over the mobile network (other than youtube every now and again).
If I could use things like netflix, and used spotify etc, then I could easily go crazy with my usage.

I am sure most of the time I wouldn't go past AT&T's new max data plan limit (2GB). That is only because I use wifi more often, but should I be unable to connect to wifi then I could easily go past that limit. Especially when using the Netflix or Slingbox app.
