Is 2GB's of RAM enough and powerful enough for moderate usage on the Mac Mini 2.4GHz? I'm looking to buy one in the future and I was wondering if 2GB is enough. Thanks in advanced!

That really depends on what your usage is, can you elaborate?

2 gb is not really that great. I was trying to pull up my iphoto and kept getting beachballs so I took the mini back.

2GB is now the minimum with Snow Leopard, not sure with Lion. Two of my macs have 2GB and it's OK if you don't have tons of applications opened at the same time.

The MM has two 1GB sticks installed in two slots, so this would only give you 5GB if you buy one 4GB. And I vaguely recall being told that having different sized sticks can slow things down.

You can get two 2GB sticks for $50 or so, but personally I bought two 4GB sticks for $80 and maxed out the RAM. 8GB will keep the machine relevant for a longer time, so might as well get it over with.

    Hey guys,

I recently bought a Mini, 2.4ghz, with 2 Gigs of Ram.
At first I thought that wouldnt be enough Ram to keep the System running smoothly. But surprisingly it was. OSX reacted fast and handeled all my Software great... until I got Parallels Desktop.
With WinSeven running in the background the Mini was totally down. The Ram was cut between OSx and Win 1Gb/1Gb and it was impossible to work on the Mini. So I upgraded to 8Gigs of Ram and now everything works totally smooth, even with Windows Seven working in the background. The Mini works great now without any slowdowns whatsoever.

My conclusion: if you dont want to use a Virtual Machine or very heavy tasks in OSX (HD Video editing and stuff) 2 Gigs will totally do.
If you want to use Parallels you HAVE to upgrade
