Touch ID has been incredibly reliable for me, it is not a gimmick. It's a great way to secure the phone without having to enter a passcode every time you pick up the phone!

Normally, Touch ID works well, except when my hands are sweaty at the gym. Then it's much more frustrating. Hopefully "version 2" will do better with sweat.

I have never had a problem with Touch ID. I love not having to enter my password.

wonder if the improved Touch ID will work better when the fingers have moisture .

I'm a criminalist and I deal with fingerprints. Your fingerprint are a mixture of oil and moisture. They have little pores in them that secrete fluid. As far as the one person who said if you clean your hands, it won't recognize them? That's actually the opposite. The cleaner the better. However lotion does affect the quality of your print and it's possible the way these sensors are built that they are not seeing them as accurately if you use lotion on your hands. Also keep in mind that even small microscopic cuts can affect your fingerprint short term or long term so depending on what industry you are in, you may need to redo the fingerprints every few weeks. Fingerprints are boring to learn about (I promise) but are fascinating how no two are the same. We are expecting this little tiny sensor to be able to differentiate between the over 50 billion different fingerprints out there to make sure it's looking at the right one. Even an 80% accuracy is amazing to see after you have been trained on fingerprints. I am very thankful with my about 99% rate on my phone and iPad.

Now that would have been something for Apple to highlight. I suspect the difference will not be as impressive as Apple would lead you to believe.

Has anyone noticed if their 6s Touch ID is more reliable than the 6 with moist/sweaty fingers?

Has anyone had issues with Touch ID not sensing anything randomly on the 6s Plus? It doesn't even say "Try again". It just comes and goes.

I have had much better results with the 6s than I did with the 6 or the Air 2. I used to tap the home button because it wouldn't register the print and I would be able to change music. Now it is unlocked as soon as I do a quick tap to the point that I wondered if it was even reading it. Testing with other fingers confirmed it is just really fast...
