Did you guys honestly expect things like wifi strength to increase? Really it's not like there sending you another antenna with the update. All though turning off Bluetooth will help you really can't expect much hardware changes with a software update, the bluetooth was a treat guys it really was. I'll admit im disapointed with the Bluetooth only for the limited uses/support but this is the first update using it.

We weren't expecting it to increase the reception; the fact it's done the opposite is the cause for the frustration.

Yea, I installed 3.0 yesterday on my 1G and haven't noticed anything useful to me, aside from better rewinding in movies.

Shake to shuffle is disappointing because it only works if a song is currently playing... I would love it if it worked right from the home screen (useful in a car)

I could care less about the spotlight because I know where my stuff is and its not like my computers where spotlight is really useful..

I don't have Bluetooth on my 1G so no peer-to-peer gaming for me.

I don't browse the web, so Safari improvements are useless to me too.

Peer2Peer gaming/apps will still be possible with WiFi. The Zune plays games over WiFi. The Samsung T10, P2, and P3 can all play games over Bluetooth. On the Touch developers can choose how they want to have it work. WiFi/internet presents the possibility of playing games with someone on the other side of the world. Bluetooth is limited to 30ft from you at best.

I just wanted to play with my friend who has an iPhone when we're bored at uni... ><

My wi-fi is worse after update too. Glad others are reporting this in that it has been driving me mad. Used to get a good strong signal pre-update, now only three quarters according to bar strength. And sites take ages to load and then, like the BBC news website, just get stuck and my Pod is like, frozen.

My wi-fi connection is definitely a little more sketchy now, but being able to open safari links in a new page is worth the price of admission for me.

Hmm...here's what i've observed. The reception bars used to never change unless I really got far away now they seam to fluctuate more accuratly based on what the signal strength really is, though I have not had any speed issues.

Thats what I thought, should have got the GM for free, but being honest I did the the right thing and waited, it just seems that there is not all that much that is new or better.

Might be worth a email to Apple anyway.

The GM and the release build are the same exact thing.

Apart from the fact that the GM was easily available for free while the official 3.0 release is not.
Anyway, my problem is half resolved now, just need to downgrade to 2.x.
