Ok, first off, I love all the new features, but the trade off has not been worth it. I have expierienced these same bugs on both of my iPhone 3G's using 3.0 GM. I hope tomorrow's release improves it, but I doubt it.

1. Reception has been horribly worse since upgradeing to 3.0 GM. Same symptons on 2 iPhones. Dropping calls left and right, unable to hardly have a long phone call. Used to get 4-5 bars in my basement, now signal cuts in and out. Just aweful!!

2. Battery life is crap! Can barely make it through the day now vs easily going 2 days. That is with minimal use mind you.

3. This OS is not very stable. Web pages studder and hang, load much slower. Apps crash, I have had several times where all apps immediatley close right after opening, and than I do a hard reboot and it hangs at the white apple logo, have to hard reboot again, and it finally comes out of it.

I have these symptons on both my phones, and one I did a full restore and it was no help. This is defintley the software, as before I had no issues like this. I expected much better than this for the GM, something tells me once this 3.0 goes mainstream and the masses start using it on their 3G's. I don't know how much better it will be on the 3G S, but this really is pissing me off!

You should rename your thread, it's not real accurate nor are you in a position to make such an Official claim.

BTW have it on my gen1 (option update) and have had some pretty lousy battery life, however call quality has been superb, nothing less. The battery is due to my laziness of not restoring the GM properly.

IMO naturally

I know, that's what has me pissed. 2 of my friends that I know personally are having the same issues on his iPhone with the 3.0, so that's 4 out of 4 iPhones that I have personally seen. This is not a good release for 3G, maybe it runs well on 3G S, but not on the 3G from my expierence. And, for those who asked, I set it up as a new phone, did not restore a backup. Mark my words, you are going to see a ton of complaints over the next couple of weeks, hopefully some patches or hotfixes are already in the works. I rarely complain about software, but this is the worst I have seen as far as performance, and that goes back to the original iPhone. I'm not ranting, just warning, this thing is about to blow up.

perhaps a different release for the 3G?

I head that also, I saw this on another site:

So Texts are the only thing that is lost? What about pics in the camera roll and recent calls? I've been debating doing this with my new 3GS as my Notes app has been corrupt since firmware 2.0. It doesn't save the notes, odd I know. It would also be nice for the possible speed enhancements too.

Its been working perfectly for me. all the apps, installing, no lagging. Battery life seems to be the same (if not a little better). I would try a fresh install like I did. Restore it to factory settings, and then install. It doesnt take very long to re-sync it anyways. MMS, Tethering, cut, copy, and paste all work perfectly BTW ;)

can you tell me what the build number is on the 3GS version of 3.0? Here's the download link
http://appldnld.apple.com.edgesuite...090617.LlI87/iPhone2,1_3.0_7A341_Restore.ipsw

oh wait, that's right, it's 7A341. the same build number as the GM. why would they change it if it's being shipped on the the iPhone 3GS?

They did change it last year. When I got the 3G last year the first day, it had the previous version of OS. So I had to download the newest version. Sometimes they make last minute changes.

I hope so, like I said, no doubt some of you are not seeing issues, but when all 4 iphones I have seen are having similar problems that raises a red flag to me. I hope I'm wrong.

I've not experienced any of those issues. My reception and battery life is the same, are you sure you're using it the same way? Not messing around wuth all the new features to explore?

It's snappy, stable (though darkroom premium crashes but I haven't checked if a reinstall will fix that) and all the features including find my iPhone are working very well.

I did not set it up as a new phone, just restored from a backup.

I can relate to the OP 100%, especially on the apps crashing immediately after opening them. I'm not sure what the heck is going on. I've restored my phone and set it up as a new one. It's definitely useable and it doesn't annoy me too much, but I'd like to see some improvements.

Well dammit, I might as well cancel my order since you didn't like the software even BEFORE it was released to the general public.... please

How do I get the pics from my camera roll?

Two original iPhones and a 3G, all running fine here with 3.0 GM.

Those are non-updated apps. Every app that has been updated in the past week has been working fine on 3.0. I've seen many go from crashing and buggy, to working perfect on 3.0 after an update.

Yeah, I can't figure it out. I have tried all the obvious fixes, full restore, removing all apps etc. Seems to come and go, and affects all the apps when it happening.

I'm debating whether to set my phone up as a new iPhone or to restore from my backup. Is there actually any difference? I'd prefer not to do more work than I have to.

If I do set it up as a new iPhone, how will all my paid (and free) apps sync over? I understand I can get my email accounts and stuff over using MobileMe and iTunes sync, I'm just unsure of the logistics...

The GM version isn't a beta! It's the same version that will be released tomorrow.

I've had no problems with the GM version. Great battery life, very stable (probably most stable iPhone OS I've used), keyboard feels great, etc. I recommend a clean install.

1.1.4 FTW Easily the most stable, but to be fair had very few features compared to 2.0 and 3.0 :D

yeah baby!

tha, tha, three times! 7A341 is the gold master and The One.

If you have issues you should reinstall and try the new phone option.

(Or turn your phone off and restart.)

Now if you installed with a jailbreak, yeah you have a problem. :p

Don't be such a douch, I've been using this since it's release and I'm saying so far I'm not impressed due to the issues....not like I'm talkng about your mother or something....Christ! Apparently I'm not he only one, and once this goes live for all I suspect you will see quite a few more.

How do I get the pics from my camera roll?

you plug it into your computer and transfer them with iPhoto or Windows Explorer depending on what your using. or you could just email them to yourself (although you can only email 5 at a time)
