when you learn you have to scale down images to send them in an mms you won't be so disappointed about not having it.

My att fuze had a 3.2mp camera. You could not send that image in an mms. You had to go 3 levels deep into settings, change the resolution to mms and then re-take the pic, then try to re-send it. Does the iphone automatically lower the resolution so it can be sent without changing settings?

my friend called yesterday, said the rep told him aug 25th

The reps have no idea. Nothing has been announced. They are grasping at straws. We will get it when they are ready to give it.

So take it or leave it if u wanna flame me then whatever. I have a friend whos dad is VERY high up in AT&T and he told me that there is about a 98 percent chance mms is coming with the 3.1 update. With that being said anyobe have any guesses or know wen 3.1 will hit?

The decision is based more on network statistics. Does AT&T feel they have enough excess bandwidth to implement MMS without slowing down the network so much that the public begins complaining (more than they already are). AT&T has not implemented MMS yet because they are busy at work increasing the capacity of their network and upgrading equipment. If they feel they can implement MMS without slowing the network more than, say 5%, based on the condition of the network at the end of August, then they will turn on MMS. However, if they predict a significant slowdown in the network, say more than 10%, then they likely won't implement MMS. I'm assuming your friend's dad is basing his decision on his prediction of the rate of addition of new network equipment compared to the rate of increase in iPhone users. Keep in mind that with MMS, people with the 3GS can send video MMS, and everyone with an iPhone can send picture MMS. The picture MMS will likely not slow down the bandwidth much (right now we send emails and view images that are on webpages), but video MMS could. (but then again, there are a lot fewer 3GS compared to 3G on the AT&T network). Based on this reasoning, I think it is likely they will turn on MMS by the end of August. Maybe AT&T wants to see first how the current Youtube uploads are affecting network capacity. That is likely what is going on.

why is all of this a concern when every other phone they have sends MMS ? the only people missing it is the iphone owners .... why is this such an F n problem with them...and if its that big of a deal, why not create a better web site to view the photos...maybe a direct link instead of the way it is now..

this has gone on way too long...
