If my math is right, the developer only needs to sell a little under 1,700 of these apps to buy an AVP with the profits (accounting for the 30% app store fee).

;)

But are there 1700 people who bought the AVP and did not return it yet? 😉
🤣 you guys cracked me up today.

Let’s see if I can up that one:
  • The target price is $4025 ($3500 + 15%) that’s already close around 2000 sales needed
  • Not only every $3 sales gets the Apple 30%, there’s also the income/profits one for the individual (another 30% likely at least, it’s definitely more where I live)
That amounts to needing to sell around 2750 of these apps: now you can rest assured that the developer will continue developing in the blind because he won’t be able to buy an AVP.

BONUS: those 2750 sales means those people on aggregate spent $9500 ($3 + 15% for each)… maybe it turns out it would be overall cheaper if the guy just went outside and asked for $3 to buy his AVP?

Apple showed it being used in one of their behind the scene videos. Name an app they banned because it became popular. People are straight out lying unless they are misinformed.
I never said popular. The first App is that is banned is an alternative App store App.

But guess what, banned apps are not advertised.

Your second point is obvious.

The first app that was banned was not an alternative App Store app. You’re just making stuff up.

Before I bought a 3D Samsung TV, I searched like crazy for a used E6 to no avail.
I bought my E6 from Amazon the day I read that the LG 2017 models were introduced at CES with no 3D, even though I was intending to wait a few years for OLED prices to drop further. It was still listed a couple of years later, but the vendor was asking more than double the original price. There may not have been enough demand to satisfy the manufacturers, but there was definitely a rabid demand from those of us that cared.

Not too many years ago, at least some vendors would have been eager to have a comparatively small, but comparatively "rabidly spendy" client base, but I'm not seeing it currently. If my TV dies before I have lost all my motivation/energy, I thought I would like to try to create a Kickstarter to see if any other 3D fans are at the point where they need to replace their 3D TVs, and see if we could get enough commitment to contract LG to simply do a single run of 3D TVs using the tech they already used. I doubt there would be enough of us to justify the assembly line modifications, even if it is old tech, but I would be interested to see the response. But I like the iPhone mini, too, so my tastes obviously lie outside the bell curve!!

Likewise.
3D movies are probably the main thing making me think I might end up eventually getting an AVP. I believe my old Marvel (and other company) iTunes copies that came with my 3D Blu-rays now have 3D digital copies on the AVP, and expect that the newer movies are probably getting 3D versions, as well. That is a major selling point for me. If they would add HDMI 3D out on the AppleTV, they would get an easy AppleTV upgrade sale to me, as well, and I assume I'm not the only person that still has a 3D TV that would be more than happpy to get another source of 3D media that is actually adding new content. There may not be millions of us, but I expect there are enough to give a decent bump in AppleTV sales. I know Apple mainly want to add appeal to the AVP, but it isn't like adding 3D out to AppleTV would change the odds of me buying an AVP, it would just mean I would buy another new AppleTV.

Hype? The problem with 3D was the TV manufactures with piss poor tech except maybe LG, I heard the C6 had great 3D for a TV. The ghosting, cross talk along with really lazy piss poor and sometimes lame 3D post production from movie studios eh Disney/Marvel to name one is at fault for 3D woes. Not to mention, well just a little, studios wanting to kill physical media for the inferior streaming. 3D is still alive elsewhere but rough to in the U.S. 3D wasn't really all hype because it was killed for various reasons here in the U.S.

Would it make ya feel safer if the developer was Google, Meta, Microsoft and etc...because these companies would never employ spyware?
Would it make me feel safer if the developer was Google, Meta, Microsoft etc? Actually yes, because I would have clearer expectations of them and be able to go in, eyes wide open, and should they cross the line, I have greater faith in European government bodies and courts holding them to account than an unknown developer operating within China's regulatory environment. Now I'm not saying the developer is doing anything wrong - he could very well just be an enthusiast who's trying to solve a problem for himself and sharing it with the world. It's the uncertainty around who he/she is and China that raises the risk threshold for me.

If Ap[ple makes best-in-class, no one buys a third pasaarty app. Ecosystem falters.

There are many better video products than the apple software at many pricepoints. Heck, the BlackMagic one is free.

Blackmagic iPhone Camera app is outstanding (and best of all, free). And is ideal for enthusiasts into making and editing serious videos.

However... what many fail to understand is Apple makes apps for the masses; ie people who want to quickly/easily make videos of their kid's birthday parties, personal travels, etc.

If Apple's photo/video app were like Blackmagic's the majority of Apple's regular customer's eyes would glaze over and never use the app.

I love BlackMagic, I wish there was a photo version of this app.

Can someone post a link please? All I see is various apps (including Videohub and Camera Control) from this company, but no specific iPhone app.

TIA

With your iPhone, go to the App Store and search for Blackmagic Camera.

Thank you!

This is terrible; one cannot find this app from the App Store app on the Mac, filtering out Mac apps. Specifically searching in the iPad & iPhone section. What a crap app the App Store on the Mac!

I believe it's that way because the Blackmagic Camera app does not run on MacOS.

The Mac App Store only has apps that run on the Mac. Similarly, the iPhone App Store only has apps that run on iPhone or iPad.

Tnx. That...kindasorta makes sense. Except for the fact that on the iPhone App Store it only lists 2 apps from BlackMagic. But why do they show iPad and iPhone apps on the Mac App Store (MAS)? It's...awkward. To me at least.

On a different note, the search function sucks. No boolean search, no 'almost got the name right' results. It's bad. Like, good old desktop iTunes search bad. As in, Microsoft level stupidity bad.
