1. *nix underneath
That reason alone made me "switch"
now it's:

1. *nix underneath
2. Just works (stable)
3. It's actually enjoyable and not as annoying as a PC:)

1. Less viruses.
2. I'm kinda a computer geek and like to have everything.
3. Got tired of Windows and needed something new to mess around with.

a. it does what i need it to do
b. it looks good
c. you got a problem? take it to an apple store. how many windows stores or PC stores are there that will fix your problems or give you a replacement if they can't.

1. After being a desktop Linux user I found OS X lets me do all the same stuff w/o the incessant tweaking needed w/ Linux.

2. Intuitive interface that works the way I expect.

3. After programming on DOS and Windows for a decade, I finally wised up. :D

1. Plan on pursuing a career in journalism layout/design
2. The ease of use, simplicity, and (no) viruses of using OSX
3. The looks

The security and quality of Mac OS X with the versatility of also being able
to run certain Windows ONLY applications and games natively under Bootcamp.

Connectivity with USB 2.0, F/W 400, 800, Toslink and mini jacks for audio I/O

Mac OS X Pro applications for audio, video, graphics, scientific and every possible office requirement.

As mentioned above there are ZERO effective viruses and less than a handful of proof of concept vulnerabilties that can in any way harm your system with reasonable and responsible care.

Running Mac OS X allows you worry free operation, letting you concentrate on getting things done.

If you simply must run any Windows applications, it's best if you do so
offline or only when connected to a known secure server.
Otherwise, you would still need to protect your Windows partition as with any Windows machine.

Mac OS X gives you complete control of your system once you know where
everything goes.

For shared systems, you have complete control over what other users
may or may not do in any secondary non administrative accounts.

You can limit access to each individual application as desired.

With iSight and iChat A/V you also have the capability to video conference
or create your own video podcasts.
With Keynote, your presentations will command the floor above any Powerpoint presentation.

What's not to like?

It just works!!!!

1 - Beuty, elegance and style of both hardware and software.
2 - Intuitiveness and ease of use.
3 - Never go wrong (in my experience).

If Macs didn't exist I probably wouldn't bother having a computer at home and just use a PC at work for the essential personal stuff.

1. Final Cut Studio
2. Edirol FA101 without any trouble
3. OSX

P.S.: Macbook Pro 15", collecting money for a Mac Pro

1. I work in publishing
2. Intuitive & user-friendly (mostly :D )
3. I never learned how to use a windows machine (properly).

1) Bought first mac so I could play all of my favorite shareware games from when I was growing up (anyone remember the original Escape Velocity? Or Realms?)

2) iPod integration before iTunes came out for windows; although I had a mac before an iPod, the iPod really cemented me to my mac (I still had desktop PC, but it seemed less useful after that).

3) Design and function of the computer and the OS. This is my number 1 now, but was not what got me to switch, so it's at the bottom of this list. I love the thought both in the hardware design and the user experience; it just makes so much more sense to me than when I ran windows.

1. Elegant and sophisticated user interface
2. It does everything I need it to do
3. There's unix underneath and a bash shell

One of my first attraction was that the startup process didn't go through a text phase. I've always thought the text boot was so primitive, unnecessary and geeky. I know it's trivial, but it made a difference to me. Later on I've also realised that it is part of the "it just works" nature of having computer where the OS and the hardware is designed by the same company.

1. FileMaker Pro (many of my clients run Mac)
2. Stability
3. Portabilty (needed a laptop, had a PC tower, so PB made sense)

And a fourth reason if I may: when I was a wee-little computer nerd I learned everything on an Apple ][+, so I'll always have a soft-spot for the folks on Infinite Loop.
