Fortunate is it now? I'm happy for Starbucks and iPhone app developers who, in my opinion, overcharge. I'm even happier for the consumer who finds satisfaction in overpaying. But the spendthrifts don't represent the entire market either.

Typical faux elistism.

Not suited to sell things, I take it....

Not suited to buying them. And what makes you think my elitism is faux?

Well, the insular arrogance to start with....Your judgement of the time/benefit cost for my needs is demonstrably inferior. I can see where that can be the case for quite a few other people. Being demonstrably inferior for my and others' needs is faux.

Who is talking about you and your needs? I'm talking about me. I don't care how you waste your money.

I know that the gap is closing, but LCD projectors are still best for presentations.

They both have their advantages in terms of the projected image they produce. I haven't seen where one is clearly better than the other, but if portability is an issue, the big advantage of DLP is the size of the projectors.

They have some pretty good displays in some of the local electronics shops. DLP definitely looks better from movies.

LCD have a nicer image, if you will, for slide presentations.

Agree.

There are a couple exceptions out there with LCD projectors. But for the most part they are much bigger than DLP projectors.

I haven't compared recently but when I did shop for one a couple of years ago, I found that LCD and DLP both had defects inherent to the technologies. The LCD projectors had more defined pixels, which can really show at large image sizes, and the DLP projects had a tendency to display that red-green stroboscopic effect, though not everyone seems to see it.

Agree.

Both have improved since then with LCD models getting much smaller and DLP getting quieter.

I still can see some latency with LCD showing video. But you have to look closely to see it. DLP tends to show moving characters when projecting a slide of text. Moving is probably not the best way to say it. Maybe a better way is to describe it like beaming in Star Trek. The character is there, but not solid.

Some friends of mine have DLP projectors. They all mention how noisy the projector gets when showing a movie. Fan noise that is.

At this point in time, if I were to get one for both business and for watching movies, I would probably go with an LCD projector even though they are a bit bigger and have some latency.
