30 second audio files from my laptop: use as ringtone?

What is a good way without installing a "ringtone app" is there to transit an audio file from a macbookpro to an > iphone12 ?

Can files be positioned in a special place on the iphone with the file manager to simple be available as a choice?

1. AAC, m4a (but then manually change the extension from m4a to m4r for ringtone)
2. From my experience, you must use a cable connection (or WiFi sync) and drag&drop the file from your Mac onto your iPhone in Finder / iTunes. (Tap "Trust this computer" on your iPhone when you first connect the two.)
3. No, see #2. The file/ringtone will only be visible in the "Ringtone" menu, not in any files app.

Yes.
Side note: Apple devices lack the possibility to set the alarm volume independent of the normal ringtone volume.
But you can export your desired alarm tone multiple times as different versions with different volume levels.
I use Fission but you should be able to find free alternatives that do the same. Like Audacity (Mac version not tested personally).
