It’s getting ridiculous that emojis is growing faster than my salary

Apple need a way of organizing them asap. Like adding pinned or hiding groups of emojis

😑

How many of these stupid things can be made?

For a skilled designer with a modicum of imagination, essentially an infinite number. For those that hate on the idea of emojis (believe it or not *some* people get a major case of the shakes from emojis, as witnessed here on MR) and possess a stunted imagination, not many.

What a weird thing to get bothered by. A little smiley face which you don’t have to use. And if someone uses one to you can just tell them that you’re uncomfortable with the use of a little smiley face and that it bothers you. A true friend or a particularly perceptive child will surely understand. And if not you can block them. 💪
A little smiley face is not what bothers me. What bothers me is that we already have 90% of useless emojis that basically no one needs and they still keep adding more and more. As some other people mentioned here, it get's harder and harder to find the ones you're looking for.

I'm curious if Unicode could create code points where first the emoji shape, and then the colour shade as an RGB or similar, is encoded, instead of coming up with multiple arbitrary shades for each shape? I have a feeling that might be all too much for UTF-8 etc though.

The solid pink heart! Lol! Maracas… the use will be for everything except for its actual meaning.

I’d be quite happy with the ability to hide a large chunk of these as a solution.

I was going to ask if anyone knows of a keyboard or extension that replaces the current emoji avalanche with just the basic / required ones?

Ideally there would also be a way to ensure all incoming displayed ones are filtered and normalised, at the very least to normal emoji colours for those times when some weirdo demands their posts get special attention because they’re highlighting their skin colour or fetish list.

Define basic required emojis.

Your recently used emojis are always the first thing you see on the left and they are organized with the little clock category icon so you can keep whatever you think is basic is there.

If you have such disdain for emojis, why even worry about new ones. Just keep doing what you're doing.

Emojis with different skin-tone colors are yellow by default, but you probably already knew this.

I love this but each variation has a Unicode designation so that everyone else sees relatively the same emoticon (except the gun because they don’t have them in CA). So if you custom make an emoji when you send the Unicode to another person they will just see the generic one.
Yes - I entirely realise that is how it is. But we can change characteristics of letters. ABC.

We don't have Helvetica-Black, Helvetica-Red, Helevetica-Blue. It doesn't seem to be wholly impossible to imagine some Emoji-2 standard that goes in that direction!

I like the addition of the donkey, goose and jellyfish. Good for Dutch - “je bent een ezel”, “domme gans” and “je bent een kwal”
