If it had a camera built in, this would be an excellent competitor to the Dell 6k monitor.

In this age of buying everything online, the headline features drive decisions-- in this case it's the number of pixels. One thing that you will never be able to compare in an Amazon description is the quality of build. The Apple Studio Display is rock solid-- I don't get any swaying or movement. The Dell and Samsung competitors that I've seen struggle with stability-- the mounts are usually some combination of plastic and multiple pieces bolted together and just wind up bobbing and swaying...
i believe that Dell 6K monitor is $3500..I think I'll save the $2200.

Are you planning to come back to pick it up?
No, it's abandonware, like Apple new software that stirs up the dust when introduced, then settles to an unforgotten and unloved stain on your clothing that you can't wash out.

Damn. They nerfed this to oblivion.

How after six years this is worse in many important areas for creative professionals than the Pro Display XDR ANd their own ProArt monitors back then beyond sharpness?!!

It's a 6K display. Are you really expecting high refresh rates on a 6K display?

I might just consider taking one of my Studio Displays to the office to use there while replacing it at home with this. Hmmm....
…It’s possible for monitors to have 5K/6K/8K 120hz with Thunderbolt 5, DisplayPort 2.1 and HDMI 2.x with or without DSC.

They didn’t want to and decided to be cheap or be content on ruling out devs and animators being accommodated in that way.

Asus ProArt typically reserves high refresh rates to those two audiences.

I know having the PA32UCG that has 4K@120hz but also 1000 sustained nits and HDR1600 certification for its 1600 peak nits.

Note it’s expected for the next Pro Display XDR to have Pro Motion (120hz).

DP Alt mode can use 4 UHBR 20 lanes at most for a display, which means 80 Gbps. Yes, Thunderbolt 5 can support 120 Gbps, but that bandwidth can’t be used in full for a single display. Even HDMI 2.2 released last month is limited to 84 Gbps.
…Thunderbolt 5 has a specific bandwidth mode specific to or optimized for displays that bypasses the limitations of DisplayPort 2.1.

Combined with its daisy changing capabilities, Thunderbolt 5 absolutely allows 6K@120hz

I obsessed for a while over getting a 120Hz screen. Finally got one and can barely tell any difference over 60Hz. Would take a 6K 60Hz over a 240Hz 4K any day (coding/writing/final cut pro)
Did you get a 120Hz or 240Hz? Big difference. I have 4K@240Hz.

HDR10 and VESA DisplayHDR™ 600 compatibility

That does not mean it meets the standard of either, just that it will accept a signal and display a picture from either. Remember all those "Full HD compatible" TV's that were only 720p
They are two different things. HDR10 is a protocol. DisplayHDR 600 is a performance-spec standard— if VESA has certified it (which they have), then the display meets it.

But scrolling through documentation, your code files, and moving your mouse around will feel like junk. My 240hz monitor only works at 60Hz with my iPad connected and it's borderline intolerable for everything outside of typing.
I don’t doubt that you are used to how that 240hz monitor looks and would not want to change but most of us with external monitors have 60hz screens and are used to it and are fine with that. In fact many us don’t really notice the difference between a 60hz screen and a 120hz screens for most uses.

This is the first time we might be able to get a large 6K monitor at a reasonable price and that refresh rate is much lower on the priority list than the resolution and price.

Auto KVM is included for switching between and controlling two connected Macs or PCs with a single keyboard and mouse
How exactly would this work? Is there a switch? Two Mac but one TB4?

Looks like a very good monitor. Happy to see that there are other options instead of purchasing an Apple display.

Just gonna leave this here: Refresh Rate (Max) : 60Hz

Not to worry, Mac games capped at 60fps with 1440p upscales. What a peak of gaming machine LOL 😁

RAM usage is crazy tho.. Windows machine requires no more than 16GB. Well, it's a Mac 😉

The good things about this display: no rounded corners on the display, no notch, no webcam, and no speakers.

Many people who prefer such a high quality display also prefer a high-quality external webcam and high-quality external speakers. Built-in webcams and built-in speakers are always low-quality in comparison to many external options.

You all realize that most of macos isn't actually HDR. If you want HDR, you have to go out of your way. Just getting your terminal to output HDR you have to first make sure you have the correct fonts. Then the colorscheme requires high-adaptive extra value set. If not, you gotta go in, calculate the values amd apply it yourself.

Ok so you've gotten truecolor, your extended colorscheme with the luminosity set correctly, you've forced your monitor forcing HDR output (not even going into the 4:4:0, 4:4:4 stuff). So now time to call the boys over to enjoy the fine color tuning youve done. Except men are pretty dumb with colors, if you're not already color-blind... you might as well be compared to women, who experience color at a different dimensional frequency than men.

This is the one area where you actually can get a woman's attention. But good luck convincing a women to come by to look at your sick HFR HDR setup that you've spent an evening tuning to perfection. You've already surrounded yourselves with dudes that want to code in Zed editor at 120fps.

None of these clue-less companies can find a clue that ugly uneven bezels with their dumb ugly logos on the front of the monitor and a strip of dumb button controls off to the side are ugly as F and immediately drop the amount anyone in the Apple world is willing to spend on their cheap-@ss plas-tacky Apple monitor alternatives by hundreds of dollars. It makes anyone who can in any way step up to the real deal avoid their uglified me-too's with a passion.

I agree - I'm sick of uneven bezels, visible buttons, and logos. The "PC gamer aesthetic" is largely to blame. "100% EXTREME RGB CAFFEINE MOUNTAIN DEW RAY TRACING LOOT BOX AWESOMENESS, BRO!"
