The most prevalent rumor from analysts familiar with Apple's negotiations with US carriers was that Apple was planning on making the entry point for iPhone 6 $299. It's possible that they were actually thinking of going $299/399/499 for 32/64/128GB on the iPhone 6.
Just noticed the following when going to Usage settings on a display iPhone 6 at the Apple Store:
Storage:
Used - 8GB
Available - 23.5GB
So add them up, a 32GB iPhone 6? It's possible that they made a bunch of these and since they're not selling them they're just using them for display models.
Except if you look at NAND benchmarks you can see that this NAND is A LOT faster than the previous one, therefore it's new and it has been decided a while ago to produce 16/64/128

Still doesn't mean much. They could be stockpiling them for the next iPad, iPod touch, or something. Either way, Apple uses enough NAND to not really worry about having any left over even with a last minute change.

I seriously doubt Apple will move to 32GB as a entry model anytime soon because Apple wants to increase ASP (avg selling price) thereby increasing their margins. Consumers may argue that they already have high margins, but Wall St always wants it higher 🙂
Doubtful. I don't remember anyone complaining about an 8GB version for a lower price when 16GB was made the base price. Anyway, my spidey senses tell me that far fewer people would complain about wanting a 16GB for less because $199 has always been the entry level price since the 3G. Why would people expect a new cheaper entry level?
