For a given HD video that the ipod will record, let's say 5 minutes, how much space will that take up? Approximately 1GB (I have no idea)? I've decided that the 32GB model will be enough as I won't be recording videos often.
I shoot most HD videos on my Panasonic HDC-TM700 3MOS 1080p60 HD camcorder and I just uploaded a short 44 second test clip to Vimeo that was 138.28mb is size but the iPod Touch 720p videos will be about 10% of that size (2.8MB/sec vs 28MB/sec). My TM700 has 32GB built-in and I use a 32GB SDHC card for 64GB total and plan on getting a 64GB SDXC card for my next vacation.

this thread makes me want to bump up to a 64gb hmm. I had a 32gb ZuneHD, loved it but had it filled up due to videos - but that was b/c I used it to output video to my HDTV via dock A LOT.. great thing. Hmmm I may just throw in the $100 for another 32GB since I'm already putting up an extra $80 for 24GB over the 8gb.=)

off topic - does the Touch 4G output video to TV? Even not HD but say xvid etc?

That's exactly what these price points are there to do. lol.

If you're going to spend $230, you might as well just spend the $300, and if you're going to spend the $300, you might as throw in the extra $100 and get the 64GB.

I don't own a touch (yet) but I'm sure it does. Apple sells their own video output cable. and my 30GB iPod Video outputs video + photos.

For me, if I am going to shoot any decent video, say, when on vacation I need the option of zooming in and I do zoom a lot. I dont believe the touch has a zoom or very good one or auto focus. I bring my video cam as well. I often delete songs are rarely listen to.

I'll be getting just the 32gb version. Besides, money is tight too and I dont see myself filling up the touch with pics either since the camera doesnt live up to my expectations.

The 64gb would be great if I plan to make an amateur porn video while on holidays where I could discretely hide the touch. :p

My 1st iPod was an ipod video 30gb.1 thng which i liked about it was that i don't have to select my songs and can sync whole of my music library(around 16gb)Then i went for a 1st gen touch and didn't realized how difficult it could be to select thez songs.I sold it for $120 a week back and is geared up for 32gb ipod touch.I plan to put 16gb of music and may be 4-5 gb of videos, books etc.and rest will be let free for HD videos...Can't wait to get my hands on this beautiful device..Love u :apple:

oops...it's true, you are right, there are 8G, 32G and 64G for 4th Gen...

Although it is playing right into the hands of Steve Jobs, I recommend the 32GB unless you know you want a 8GB version. The 32GB gives room to spare and doesn't add the $100 tax of the 64GB. The 64GB version is for those who want to spend the money or store entire movie collections in an ipod.

Alas, I shall get no ipod touch. I have won an iphone 4 32GB (which was the same size touch I would have got) with no contract. So I can still be free of AT&T.

I currently have a 32GB 3rd Gen iPod Touch and I personally think 32GB is a nice comfortable size. I have tons of music so I would never be able to fit it all on there (not even if I had a 64GB) and my music mood usually changes so every few weeks or once a month I will rotate the type of music I have on my iPod Touch. It doesn't take long to transfer stuff so I do this and fill up at least half then leave the rest for games, other apps, photos, and videos. I never have much of anything else to actually fill the 32GB. I will put movies on there for my daughter but they will be deleted once they've been viewed.

Apps will start taking up a lot of space quickly but it isn't like you will actually have hundreds of stuff on there that you play daily. Just make sure you delete games you no longer play. Don't forget you can redownload any app using the same account without having to pay again so don't be worried to delete something unless it is a game you play daily.

However, on the other hand. If you have the extra cash and don't think it is much of a difference or if you don't have anything else you would spend it on go ahead. The 64GB is a good deal I just personally think I could spend the extra $100 or so on other items instead of storage on an iPod Touch I probably won't even fill. That $100 saved would buy a ton of games and apps.
