Granted, pornography can be controversial in some social circles, and granted, some pornography is disgusting and degrading. But Apple is a retailer for media content, and pornography is a form of media. Oftentimes it's locked up in Windows Media formats that can't play on a Mac. iTunes would give porn vendors a nice venue to sell their product in a protected way to both Mac and PC users. And iTunes could easily implement age-checks.

You might frown on my suggestion, but do you frown on your local video rental store with the adult section in back?

As you say, very degrading. I would abandon Apple forever if it did this. I'm sure I'm not alone in this.

Yes!

Hmmmm.

The only problem is that kids could quite easily bypass age checks that iTunes would implement. It's a bit harder to bypass an age check in a brick and mortar store . "Got ID?" "No..." "Get out of my store".

For the moment I think I'll say it's better that they don't sell it.

there are so many more lucrative markets for apple to get involved with than pornography. do ppl need their porn that bad that it must be available via itunes? there are just certain things you dont want your business associated with

No matter how great and popular porn is, it would be a PR nightmare.

Yes, I wonder if we'll laugh about this attitude (where so many people like pornography, yet its so frowned upon) in a few years...

I don't think theres any good reason too. There are already some pretty racy podcasts on there.

One man's disgusting and degrading is another man's turn on. Providing it's consensual and between adults it's all equal as far as I'm concerned.

As for whether iTunes should sell it? No. There are plenty of retailers on the Internet for that purpose already.

I would first have to go to a movie rental place PERIOD!

I would drop apple as well and then I would send a "sweet" email to Steve.

haha if apple started selling porn via iTunes, big internet sites like Digg, Engadget, Gizmodo would have a field day! Think of all the snarky remarks! lol

Blu-Ray refuses to produce porn on there media.

meanwhile HD video players are cutting prices fast and HD DVD's are selling

porn is a big industry....but not apple's (or blu-ray, but we see whats happening to that)

iPod + iTunes = A lot of underage users = Big NO NO for pornography! Apple will be flooded with complaints from the different organizations, a headache they can do without...

No so (at least not anymore). http://www.theinquirer.net/default.aspx?article=37021

and there's plenty of iPod compatible porn already out there, just Google it.

That said, I'm against porn on iTMS.

VOTE: Ron Paul for president. what does this have to do with Porn!?!?!!! What I'm thinking here is that the concerns here regard accessibility. I wholeheartedly agree. So now what? Porn is legitimate, 'children with porn', not so much...
i'm thinkin' and how can we enforce it?

I agree with these posts, but the problem I have run into is that the sites I was interested in say that they are Windows only. I obviously won't link to them, I'm not sure what the rules of Macrumors are, but knowing there are minors here I won't. But here's a for example from a site:

This website is not compatible with Macintosh systems.

Microsoft recently announced that it will no longer be offering Internet Explorer for the Mac. Unfortunately, this means that the movies on this site will NOT play on Macintosh systems. We are working hard to implement an alternative for Mac users, so please stay tuned!

This site in particular has been working hard on that for a couple of years with no results apparently.

No results because they aren't even trying to fix the problem, IMO. The message on the site is an attempt to placate Mac users and keep the number of e-mails to customer service down. It's not difficult to have a platform agnostic video website.

And no I don't think the iTMS should offer up porn because that makes things unnecessarily complicated and difficult on Apple's end from a PR point of view.

There is not much business as lucrative as porny stuff !

Why not?? I dont see anything wrong with that. Of course I would have to be legal but thats obvious. You would have to use credit card instead of gift cards. But thats it. I dont understant why everyone is so offended with that idea. Its just another part of entertainment industry and the one not complaining about slow sales

You must be drunk.

Ah... I was wondering when someone was going to say this.
So here is what I have to say: Some people still have decency young lad.
