I agree. From what I have seen, it's not something I would use often. There may be one or two things that can be done with 3D Touch that I don't know about but will end up using. But for now it's just a gimmick to me.

On the flip side, I am really loving the Slide Over view on my iPad Mini 2 as well as that new way to move the cursor by pressing on the keyboard.

I really love it. Especially for turning the keyboard into a trackpad, selecting text etc. LOVE it. Does it need some fine-tuning? Absolutely. But the future is here, and it will involve 3D Touch.

It is like anything, nothing is perfect first time around. Plus hardly any apps make use of it now but wait until they do and it will make even more sense then.

I don't really like force touch. If you're pressing down its pretty much just a man atm screen after that.

I've already set mine to light, but I can't say it makes nearly as much difference as I'd anticipate. On my MacBook the different settings seem a lot more obvious.
When you go into 3D Touch settings and try out the different sensitivities there seems to be naff-all difference between light/medium/firm.

You have to remember. Apple makes money from hardware. They give their software for free. So it makes since they focus on usable hardware in order to sell new devices.

Let's take a look at Apple and how they continue leaving their competitors in the dust:

The original iPhone itself. Took the world by storm simply by having a touch screen.
Camera. Apple is consistently the best camera in smartphones year after year.
64-bit CPU's. Totally caught everyone off guard.
Touch ID. Google is just now getting on board with this. Apple has had this for 3 years now.
3D Touch. No one saw that coming. Adds so much functionality and speed to using the phone.

It's a shame Apple has no real software skills as noted how everyone puts Apple apps in a folder on the last page of their device.

I don't like 3D Touch. They better had implemented a long touch.

Pressing hard on a screen us idiotic. We have a touch screen and have to press hard. I cannot understand why people are liking this?

I hate it.

There's a Google phone for you somewhere.

3D Touch is very useful. Just yesterday I was looking at the accessories forum looking for new cases, and instead of opening and closing a million tabs, I used the peak feature on Amazon links. If a case grabbed my interest, I would pop the page open. It saves a lot of time.

Camera: the iPhone hasn't had the best camera for over a year.

3D Touch: I think Nokia may have seen that one first.

The rest of your post I agree with.

The smartphone was out way before the iPhone, and yet you missed the point. No one gave a hoot about a Nokia. Android camera are notorious for being inconsistent.

No, they did not patent the 3D Touch that we are talking about. Their patent is about hovering the finger above the screen, an option that failed miserably.

@Electrics seems to have gone very quite on this thread. He is not so mouthy now that he knows he is wrong. Some of his post are gone as well.

You have got to love people that give it the big I am and then disappear when they know they are wrong.

On another note does anyone find that 3D Touch is working a little different on 9.0.2, especially going to open apps?

It depends on what android camera you're using I suppose. For me from the Note 4 onwards Samsung Galaxy cameras have been much better than the iPhone.

Speaking of Nokia, they themselves were camera leaders for a long time.
