I do not use and see the benefit of the 3D Touch and wish Apple had never actually implemented it. Give me an iPhone with less bezels, less ugly (antenna bands, protruding camera lens) than the gimmicky 3D touch.

I definitely agree about the need for smaller bezels etc, but Apple were never going to make those sort of design changes on an 'S' model. Those models tend to have minor functional changes that don't affect the look of the device, so 3D Touch was an appropriate enhancement. I find it about as useful as other 'S' changes, like Siri and Touch ID: handy to have, but not as exciting as a new design.

My main worry is that the iPhone 7 may by another 'S' judging from the rumours that it won't look much different from the 6S. That would be very disappointing.

I have to disagree with you on Touch ID. It is easily the most useful innovation on a smartphone in recent years - incredibly convenient and a powerful enabler of things like payments and quick and secure logins in apps. It is literally industry leading - every flagship Android phone nowadays sports a similar fingerprint sensor.

I keep forgetting about it. Usually am reminded when I fumble around with my phone.

I personally never used it on my 6S. It wasn't intuitive, nor useful. Now that I've offloaded my 6S for an SE, it's one less thing draining my battery, which is great.

Same here. I always forget it haha. Just made me curious about asking people this, to see if they actually like it or they find it handy. BTW how do you read them without leaving a read receipt :D?

On another note, I hate that read receipt. I turn mine off. I will answer back when I am ready to answer back. I have a few friends that are impatient as hell and if they see that you have read it, they will keep texting till you reply.

I use it all the time. It's probably the number one feature that I'll miss when I inevitably flip-flop back to Android in a year or two.

I like Touch ID but do find it occasionally annoying (much like I feel about 3D Touch). It doesn't always recognise my fingerprints, especially whilst exercising, which is when it would be most handy. I guess the sweat affects it.

Also, I find that the latest version in the 6S is too quick, so I miss seeing my notifications. I know I should use the side button instead and then the home button, but that takes longer and it is difficult to train myself out of years of using the home button.

Having said all that I do agree that, at the moment, Touch ID (when it works) is more useful than 3D Touch. But 3D Touch has so much more potential. It is in its infancy and the uses of it are only limited by developers' imagination.

Does anybody know of any thread or wiki, where they have a organized list of all the things you can do with 3D touch, even with individual apps will be helpful.

Its hard going through numerous threads which specifies the same things..

Or if there's none, anybody want to please start it.

I agree with you for the first point. But yes as you said, it is really connected to the sweat. It s a matter of fact to get used to, to push the othe rbutton :/.
However yes, 3D Touch has a great potential. let's hope that for ios 10 they are going to implement it with the new phones and of course push the developers to that direction.

I would for sure start doing this in the near future, but during work it is a little bit impossible to do it at the moment :D

Why would you change to Android? Just a question out of interest :)

Just got the phone this past weekend with my wife (switched to T-Mobile and took advantage of their buy one, get one half off). Ive been playing around with 3D touch and my impressions...
  • not necessarily compelling to use on the home screen.
  • peek and pop are great, especially when using it in safari
  • i wish more third party developers would use it in their app
  • multi-tasking (app switcher) is amazing, though i don't like the actual design of it. i preferred the Palm OS style cards used previously in iOS 7/8.
  • Cursor placement when typing is a GOD SEND. This alone is worth it.
The most important aspect of 3D Touch that I appreciate is actually not the Force touch itself, but the taptic engine. It is so much quieter, more powerful/accurate, and feedback is great feeling (especially with text alerts).

I am a fan of both platforms as they both have their pros and cons, and I don't like to feel trapped in one ecosystem. So every time I'm due for an upgrade, I'll research all the top phones that are out and pick whichever impresses me the most and best suits my needs whether it be the latest iPhone or a flagship Android.

What's the point of 3D Touch on the weather app, when it does not even show the temperature of the cities.

When your in the tab view and you have at least 10+ cities, you can 3D Touch to get the weather and week.
I am talking about holding the app on the home screen. It would be helpful if it showed temperature instead of just city names.
