Can you confirm that the audio output is still ok with the PowerJolt? I got the PowerDuo and it charges fine, but oddly won't output any audio. I'm hoping that the PowerJolt will allow me to charge and use the iPod function to play audio at the same time.

It won't output ANY audio? As in, you can't hear the ringer, etc?

Any Charger that uses the USB pins to supply power to the dock connector (at 5V) will work fine. Any Car Charger sold at an Apple Store is required to work, so trust in that. The newest iTrip Auto or iTrip USB would work for you.

Griffin Powerjolt with 3G iPhone - problems

I bought the Powerjolt, but had to take it back. It generated bad static while listening to the iPod app -- much worse when it thought the iPhone was charged. Anybody else had this problem? Any solutions? I'm waiting to hear back from Griffin.

Yeah unfortunately it had some static when you plug the PowerJolt then plug an Aux cable to your car, oh boy its nasty. What I did was buy an FM transmitter that could charge my phone as well, and placed the PowerJolt at my work so I have a spare USB charger at work for my phone ;) Now I'm assuming if you can afford it you can also buy an FM transmitter (but be warned it also has minor static, all transmitters does)

The only way to avoid that static is just plug the PowerJolt, then play iPod on max volume - no static. But if you plug an aux cable from your phone to car while it's charging then you'll hear a lot of static.

Don't get a DLO charger. The guy at Best Buy assured me that it was compatible with the 3G, but I contacted DLO and they told me that it isn't compatible.

3G car adapter that doesn't distort

Has anyone been successful getting a 3G car adapter that doesn't distort the signal when you play from the 3G Iphone at the same time?

My Charging Car Doc Solution...

I'm getting ready to assemble this in my Car... I'll update when I'm done but for those interested.

My goal is to create a doc that I can drop my phone into that will both charge my phone and allow me to control the phone with my car stereo.

I'm going to mount the Griffin Air Curve somewhere.
Using this adapter
and an extender like this one

What I'm going to do is connect the 30 pin extender to the aircurve pass thru; connect my ip-bus iPod cable directly to my head unit, and use the adapter to bridge the extender and the ip-bus 30 pin connectors.

So I'm not sure how the phone call operation will work but I assume speaker phone will work very will with the aircurve; and I may get a blue tooth set up eventually.

This should work for anyone that has an iPod 30 pin connector for their car stereo. I'm still looking around for a "perfect" dock but I doubt I will find what I want. So if you don't see an update for a while that's why.

PS if anyone knows of a dock that has a 30 pin connector and is made to display the iPhone in wide screen format please let me know.
