3G Network down in NY area?

Any other areas experiencing issues? Or is it just local (Long Island)?

"Safari cannot open the page because it is not connected to the internet."

Then it times out:

"Could not activate Cellular data network"

I too have lost 3G.
 
I'm on Long Island and lost 3G - at least it's not just me. As a temporary fix, I disabled 3G in Settings and that has at least given me an Edge connection.
 
Thank god I saw this, I thought I was the only one. I'm in Bethpage at work, have my new iPhone 3GS and I walk in and I'm missing my 3G icon!

The phone can still dial out, but the internet/mail/anything data related is failing immediately.

Edge works and so does wifi. I was already planning a trip to the Apple store for later today. Lets hope its an AT&T problem.

Text messaging appears to be working. Still no 3G.

I'm in Hauppauge and am having the same issue. No data or "3G" icon. Somethings going on....

Maybe it'll pop back up at 7.2mbps... wishfull thinking.
 
i called at&t and they said they were turning off 3G in some areas to upgrade the network, and that when the network came back it would support tethering for free.

Yup.. Im on WiFi but shut it off after seeing this to find there is no 3G service. So it's out in Smithtown as well ....

BUT I did just get a push notification from my AP news app !!!


Maybe we can hope AT&T shut it off to do an upgrade... MMS maybe lol :rolleyes:

I am in Hauppauge as well. This sucks because I am supposed to be out of the office for a while today and need internet!! Argh!
 
No coverage in Bellmore, Long island when i signed into ATT there was a message that states
"Important Service Message: Due to a network service issue, some customers in your area are having difficulty making or receiving calls. Our technicians are working to resolve this issue as quickly as possible, and we apologize for any inconvenience."
 
I'm in farmingdale, long island [very close to the U.S Open] and am glad everyone else is having the problem. I get edge and wifi but no 3G.

Yup, I'm in Farmingdale too. Just off 110.

I'm guessing we either overloaded the system, or their just picking a bad time to upgrade.

Dare we hope for MMS when it comes back up?
 
im in westchester country about 40 min north of nyc... when i first activated 3gs my service at my house had full 3g bars but my connection was intermitent... only in a small area near my house though which has typically worked perfect and been convered.... now since yesterday i'm only seeing edge, no 3g at all but atleast my connection to network isnt giving me "call failed" whenever i try to call someobody for the first 15 times
 
None here in central islip or during my drive from manorville. Called the evil empire (AT&T), they said was "because of apples servers" and there was no outages in my area. Haa. Gotta live AT&T CS
 
It's up in Brooklyn. However I'm only getting about 200 kbps, which is better than the 66 I got last night.

AT$T is ridiculous in NYC. In fact they should be embarrassed.
