3G Network down in NY area?

Haha it's all good :D I admit I was excited too though :apple:

In other news, although 3G is back the D/L speeds are atrocious out here in Islandia, @ least compared to requieminadream's speeds in NYC:

Now I have no service! Even when I disable 3G! WTF? Oh, and this might be iPhone related because I co-worker had 3G signal on a lowly AT&T Quickfire while I had none. This is getting scary!
 
3G icon just came back yet again. Restarting phone to see if the icons sticks. Kinda sucks that all this is happening in the middle of the day! (on a disaster-of-a-Monday no less)
 
3G is back (for now...):confused:

Oops, now it's gone again. The folks over at the US Open that may be needing wireless to report or update remotely that have AT&T must be overjoyed!

Here in Hauppauge it came back on at the same garbage speeds you've seen... and now it's back off again. I can't help but wonder if this is somewhat related to the US Open.

RE the US Open: could be, or it could be from all the torrential rain we've had the past month straight! :eek: AT&T's 3G capacity is saturated! (sorry, bad pun intended!)

I live in Brooklyn as well. I get max 300 kbps on speed tests. It's much faster in Manhattan.
 
This problem started for me a week ago. This is due to the fact they are updating the cell sites (software).

Here's a snapshot of my phone's speedtests from today (this is a 3G phone out in Suffolk). The network is definitely not warming up here! It's getting colder!

Umm... What does your speed in Puerto Rico have to do with whether or not 3G in down in NYC?

I was in brooklyn two weeks ago with my regular 3G and the speeds I was getting were horrendous. I talked to a few buddies in williamsburg/park slope and they said they always get terrible speeds in brooklyn. I'm getting pretty terrible speeds in Rockland county.

Side note: why is the closest server Columbus, OH?

all data is down in forest hills, ny... so the issue is not longer on the island its crept into the boroughs
