Upgrade on ATT

I didnt get my phone until 8/5/08 and my ATT account shows upgrade eligible 8/6/09. But I know that late payments and missed payments push your upgrade date back.

I upgraded from an N95 last year and my O2 contract is still set to end when my N95 contract was due to, the end of this month.

I'm not complaining :D

I bought the 3G in 2008, but it still says upgrade in December 2009. However, it's moot, since I don't plan on buying another iPhone for a few years.

i get to upgrade one of my phones in October and the other in February. Which will be good because all the bugs should be worked out by then.

Not really in a big hurry like eveyone else seems to be on here, but that doesnt mean I'm not excited about getting 3.0.. I really miss the XXX MMS photos I used to get from my homies! :D

I really hope that AT&T does what O2 did. If the new iPhone has major changes and improvements, I'm going to feel compelled to get it. I bought my 3G in October I believe, so it's been around 6 months.

Though I wouldn't know where to pull the money out of my *** for a $700 new phone.

I'm eligible for an discount upgrade now. My brother asked me to place him under my contract, but he didn't want the iPhone, so when I signed him up, I asked the ATT rep to put the iPhone on my line and I gave him my HTC Kaiser. His line is eligible is in 4/12/10. If you think about it, I have a line available for discount upgrade every year :p haha

I believe ATT allowed previous iPhone owners to receive the discount upgrade price, of course you would have to sign the two year contract. I could be wrong, but I swear that's what I remember hearing.

How did the 1G iPhone users upgrade to a 3G iPhone after only one year?

The iPhone 3G came out a little over a year after the first one came out and I know of people who upgraded, but didn't ask if it extended their contract another 2 years. Is that how it goes?

So if I bought my iPhone in August 2008, I wouldn't be able to get one until January 2010 (according to my AT&T web account).

If that's the case, I probably would just wait for the June/July 2010 iPhone release. ;)

iPhone 2G users were able to get the 3G when it came out because their purchase was not subsidized ($399 for the device). People who purchased the 3G did have their devices subsidized (so only $199 out the door), and therefore probably aren't eligible to upgrade after 1 year, for the US atleast.

That makes sense. Thanks for the clarification!
