3GS 4.3.3 16.5 baseband cannot restore or turn on

so i finally got it in pwnd dfu mode (i think) but tinyumbrella doesnt recognize the phone now, not even ?0. it only recognizes it when its in recovery mode

Does iTunes still recognize it? I think that's all you need. You can still run the TSS server from TinyUmbrella even if it can't see the phone.

Turn on the TSS server, then bring up iTunes and try to update the phone to a custom 4.3.3 (if you're following the path I described above). If TinyUmbrella's TSS server is working correctly, it shouldn't give you any errors and you can successfully load 4.3.3 but you're still stuck in a DFU loop. Then you use Redsn0w's tethered boot to get out of it.

thanks so much. one last problem though, everything works up until step 8. when i try to restore to a stock 4.1 in itunes i get error 1015

nevermind, i changed my host file (added the #) now everythings good to go
let us know if you figure out how to safely get back to 4.3.3

Great! Glad you got it working.

Yeah, in a few weeks, I'll get the phone back and see if I can find some way to get it back to 4.3.3, but I'm not an expert at this. Maybe I'll just end up waiting for an untethered jailbreak for 4.3.4 or something.

wait, so there is a 4.3 unlock? I got my iphone 3gs unlocked and the guy at the store convinced me that there is no unlock for 4.3ios and he put me on 4.1iOS. and me, being iphone unlock/jailbreak retard that i am, believed him.
