Better is subjective and clearly the OP's sister does not like the iPhone or at least thinks she'll like the Bold better.

I'm still not sold on the idea that she's making a horrible mistake because she's unhappy with the iPhone

I'm not either because I doubt that she spends 100% of her phone time on the internet. IF she did, like the OP said, then the iPhone is better unless she finds word search indispensable (which the BB has).
