Nothing like that bird chirping sound of your new iPad telling you your sync from backup is done! :):apple::apple:

Got mine from Walmart. Mine had 5 and there were only 2 of us in line at midnight. I was #1 but the guy didn't know how to ring us out and had to walk us up to the front.

The "new" iPad has DC-HSDPA which is about 42 Mb/s, probably faster than LTE in the US, many countries have this or are starting up to get this, and that's more than enough for now.

Wow. Are places getting real world performance approaching that level? That certainly seems fast enough. The only thing I can think of where you might feel a pinch is if you tried to make that your hotspot and ran an entire active household off of the one line. Otherwise anything meeting 20 MBs should be good enough. The websites you connect to won't even output their content at anything approaching that speed anyway.

Only losers queue up like that for a launch.

Its really pathetic.

I can't think of anything better that screams "I NEED A LIFE"

Its not like you can't get these delivered to the door any day for the next year.

These kind of posters make me laugh...loudly! Very similar to one of my buds Pops, a true geezer who has opinions about everything everybody does and is quite sure he is superior in his 'nest of knowingness' as my bud calls it. This one takes the lead, though..."pathetic"...."losers"..."I NEED A LIFE", words that kind of bleed meanness. Now this would (NOT) be a fun guy (most likely not a lady) to spend time with.

First impression. This is worth it for the screen alone. Wow! Stunning crispness. I have never seen the text of a paper book look so rich and crystal clear. iBooks looks gorgeous. As does everything else.

If you have a Micro Center in your town, they are selling them online with in-store pick-up. Mine (not open yet) shows 10+ for the Apple iPad 3rd Generation 16GB Wi-Fi White and anywhere from 3 to 10+ stock for all of the other models (wi-fi and 4G models, all sizes and colors).

There were about 12 people in line at the Walmart I was at. I was number 6

Target

I walked straight into target and picked up a 64 gb wifi with a $60 gift card and saved an extra 5% with my Target card. :) There was only one person in front of me. The Best Buy store beside Target had about 15 people in line waiting for the store to open.

Futureshop Fredericton

They opened at 8:00am. I went there just after 9:00 and picked up a black 32GB 4G. They still had all models in stock. The guy said that there was a lineup of 30 people at 8:00am lol. :D

This launch doesn't seem to have the frenzy of previous launches...

It's hard to judge by analysts tracking parts and shipments (we know how right analysts are..lol) but it seems like for this launch, Apple really made sure they had more supply. The last 2 iPad launches, the inventory allocated for online preorder sold out insanely fast, and was limited, which forced people to have to wait in lines and try their luck. Just feels like more people were able to pre-order.

Also, correct me if I'm wrong, this is the first time 3rd party resellers had launch day supply with the exception of best buy. (And Best Buy only had it at stores with apple shops if I remember correctly, not every store.)

All that said, I fully expect ever "the new iPad" to be off store shelves by the end of the day, and the wait to begin.

Went to Best Buy 15 minutes before it opened. Line wasn't bad at all. Got a white 32gb wifi and a smart cover, plus best buy protection. My first iPad and happy so far. Good luck to everyone out on the hunt.

The iPad is launching in ten countries including the US, Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Japan, Singapore, Switzerland and the UK.

Should be: The iPad is launching in ten countries and areas including the US, Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Japan, Singapore, Switzerland and the UK.

My buying experience from Comet in Dundee, UK was straightforward compared to some of the queues shown!

1. Turn up 15 minutes after it opened, shop was empty
2. Have you got the new iPads? [Yes]
3. Can I have a 32Gb Black one please [We should have that in stock...yes]
4. Hand over card, get iPad. Cheers!

For the iPad 2 they didn't have any for weeks, so maybe the rush isn't quite was it was for past products - unsurprising really, it's not like all the iPad 1 and 2 owners will be upgrading.

First impressions are that the screen looks amazing, it gets smeared very quickly and easily compared to my iPhone 4S, and that it's a good bit heavier than I thought it would be (it's my first iPad, I've just played with other people's) - certainly uncomfortable to read with one hand, which is a shame.

This gives credence to the rumors that Apple was sending air cargo freighters full of the new iPads to the US, weeks in advance. While shortages can build anticipation, major shortages only build frustration and anger.

Seems to be a MUCH smoother launch this time around. I know I was turned off of the original ipad and the ipad2 because I wasn't willing to jump through hoops and act like a fool to get one. This time around I easily pre-ordered one 5 hours after the keynote and it will be at my door any second now.

Cases

So those of you who have gotten yours (jealous! until this afternoon) how does it fit in your iPad 2 cases?

I want to put it in my Moshi Concerti case. please fit please fit

LOL! This made my day.

I agree with others: the iPad screen is gorgeous. There doesn't seem to be much of a speed increase in games so far, and actually I've noticed unusual and surprising choppiness in Pinball Arcade (which ran fine on my iPad 2).
