Watch out for those meritline cables! I bought a couple back in April 2008, and while they do somewhat work for charging (although not with bumpers on an iPhone 4), they do not work for syncing with iTunes. The sync starts, but always fails early on with an unexpected disconnection. I've relegated those two cables to car charging duty, where they are partially successful--charging is intermittent, and I am distracted as the begin-charging chime sounds repeatedly, and the display lights up every time it starts or stops charging. The cables are just junk, and now that I've installed a bumper (making them completely useless), I think I'll just throw them out.

I've recently ordered some cables from monoprice, and while those also don't fit with bumpers installed, they appear to be fine cables, otherwise. They do allow a successful sync, for instance.

So, I'm curious to hear how those meritline cables that you ordered work for you. Has their quality improved in the past couple years?

I ordered this before i received by bumper.....not sure its going to fit.

I can confirm that this DOESNT fit the bumper. I didnt think it would either. I ordered it before i received my bumper and realized there was a size constraint in the types of cables it could accept. I was able to take a combination of a nail file and bench grinder to make it small enough to fit and work perfectly. It is sitting in a Proclip in my car so you cant even really see whats been done to it.

Im not sure anyone makes any cable dock extenders that would fit the bumper. I have been unable to find any yet....

Still waiting on those Meritline cables. I have ordered some from there in the past and didnt have any problems with them. If you look on their website though, they have several different types that look to be of varying quality as well. I am hoping these are pretty good. Regardless, i have a few sets from that ebay seller that are tested and definitely good!

I received this cable today and can confirm that it fits perfectly with the iPhone wearing a bumper. It is very nice quality and seems to be nearly identical to the Apple original. The only difference is the USB port has a rounded back as opposed to the squared back of the new i4 version. They shipped it very quickly and was very happy with the transaction. I am still waiting on the Meritline order and don't expect them to get here for another week or so. I will probably order a couple more from this Ebay seller. You can never have too many of these cables laying around.

Nice but I assume that there aren't any black cables that fit with the bumper right?

I can confirm what dhartung02 has listed. I ordered two and they work just great. Good price. Look like Apple cords.

No black confirmed to work yet. If anyone finds any (that work)please post.

bump - are there any others? I saw the wireless emporium ones this morning and wasn't sure if they would fit or not. I would ideally like a true genuine oem apple cable but not having much luck without buying direct thru apple.

The Wireless Emporium ones fit perfectly. I have 4 sets of them and may get a couple more.

Some older Apple 30 pin connectors DO NOT work with the bumper case. I have an older connector with a larger connector piece (probably from a 3G or older iPod) that do not connect properly.

+1
The older Apple USB cables (the ones that lock in) do not work with the bumper.

Anyone found any that work for sale in the UK (don't really want to pay for postage from the US as it just bumps the cost up to the not much point mark!)

EDIT: Been e-mailing back and forth with a guy selling them on eBay in the UK - he's sending me one out tomorrow so when I get it I'll test it, and if it works I'll post the link here.

EDIT 2: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=110565205542&_trksid=p2761.l1259#ht_901wt_913
These ones are pretty good for cheap ones, but still slightly too large. They do fit with the bumper on if you really push them, but it's not a great fit :-(

I tried clicking on the links for (US or HK based sellers) and most of them are dead. Anyone found a new seller that sells iphone 4 compatible bumper?

I bought from the third link you gave me, the seller "imartusa" and it did NOT fit. I actually found the seller dishonest. I asked first before I bought and promised that it did fit. When I got the item, it did not fit. When I asked for a refund, i was only partially refunded. If I wanted a full refund, I would have to return the item and pay for shipping costing me almost as much as the item itself.
