I'm not going to because...

1. I don't want oversized signal bars.

2. I would like to see 5 bars occasionally. Even if it doesn't mean full signal. (according to apple :/)

I updated my 3G, but am holding off on the one for the 4. All of the "I bricked my phone" stories are scaring me.

Someone could do a Poll for: "Did you have any problems with updating your os to 4.0?" with "Yes" and "No" options. I'd be willing to bet that the majority of people updated without problems, but it's an individual decision.

I'm just sayin'...

i was but gonna wait, too much crap going on right now. maybe over the weekend...

Go ahead and do it. It'll only take 15 minutes and you can go out Friday night to show off your bigger bars :)

When the chicks ask why you have less bars, just tell them it's the size that matters:)

Since you've lost your faith in Apple I suggest giving away your 3GS and use a free ATT phone with that new contract you were about to sign. That's what a REAL faithless consumer would do. If not, it appears your just looking for a place to gripe. Which is cool.

It's like people who don't eat meat because its "cruel", but have no issue wearing leather or fur.

As far as the update goes, I almost installed it (5 mins left to download) and I stumbled on the thread of those having big issues doing so. I will wait and see what Stevie says tomorrow. Just for kicks.

Sorry but I think you're out of line to the poster you're responding too. There's a difference. He already owns the 3GS. What he's doing is voting with his wallet and not giving them any MORE money. It's not hypocritical in the slightest. It's not like he's buying a different iPhone or anything. He's already paid for it. You expect him to just throw away a phone he likes and is using? Sorry - but calling you out on this one

Doesn't do anything, so no. I'll wait untill the next update that actually does something. If it fixed the prox sensor, I'd be on it, but for just a bar change, nah, I like the way the bars look.

Hmm. Food for thought. I thought I was just weighing in with my answer to the question about applying the update. Guess I didn't have to add the part about loss of faith, so guess you're right about looking for a place to gripe. I've got plenty of good company here lately. :)

I can't have lost complete faith after all, because I applied 3.2.1 to my iPad, which wasn't having any issues. So I'll amend my original statement and say that until this strangeness with the iPhone 4 is over, I'm going to be careful about applying updates to iOS4, and I'll probably never be an early adopter of an Apple product again. We'll see if that attitude survives the launch of the rumored new iPads next year. Physician, know thyself. ;)

You can call me out all you like. The person this was directed toward retracted their statement of "lost faith" and conceded to say they were indeed just a bit upset by the drama being stirred.

That's fair, and I can relate. The iPhone 4 was the first piece of technology I have EVER bought on day 1 while waiting in line. It was fun for what it was.

I wanted an iPad badly when they came out. I decided to go with round 2 or 3. Now that I have an i4, I know I made the right choice for me. Comparing the i4 and iPad though is slightly unfair though I admit. The iPad was round 1 of a brand new product. Obviously the i4 was a 4th gen.

I was aware of both of those. Thanks for the observation.

What is it with people's attitudes around here?

FFS I was just trying to correct what looked to me like misinformation. If you have a look at the thread regarding the release on the front page I'd say about 40% of the people are in there complaining that they're "death touch" issue hasn't been resolved.

No way I'm updating. It's either a recall/complete fix tomorrow, or a return.

I'm done screwing around.

If they do have a recall they may force you to update before you can return or exchange the phone anyway.

Wall Street Journal says no recall, and since they aren't coming to your house to fix yours, I suggest you make a Genius Bar appointment for return.

Is there a reason you're on some sort of "crusade" to get people to get rid of their iPhones. Are you one of the people who is annoyed at anyone who is taking issue with Apple and insisting there's a problem at hand?

No jailbreak was released ... therefore, Apple couldn't have patched any sort of JB.

Updating really won't risk anything.

Dev team said not too so I wont.
Waiting purely because i dont give a sh-iot how the bars on my cellphone are displayed. i got a case, less deathgrip issues. waiting till 10am tomorrow.
