Why do world-wide customers tolerate this nuisance?

Good question. I guess it's because senators and other congressmen don't have to worry about it since they don't use consumer lines. Maybe they don't realize it's that bad of a problem? Maybe the FCC chairman was paid off to look the other way, or maybe all the calls bring in big bucks to the carriers in some way? Regardless, it should be illegal.

Best solution so far is to turn off as much as possible concerning the phone useage within my phone. Now, i get a low click. And unknown callers are sent to voicemail. So no ring, just a click, and only a quick banner, and its over. I can live w it. Of course anyone that needs alot of unknown calls wont like it, but the less I get the better. I still get 4-5 per day unknown voicemails that always say the same thing. I might think about it in the evening and delete them all. Its really a waste of time do anything except trash.

Any Verizon users, does Verizon actually stop spam voicemails?

I have a visible line. I have their spam blocking set to max. I used to get 1 per day, reliably every single day (loan offer spam/scam)

Lately it's been down to like 3 or 4 a week. I have heard horror stories that some people get like 20 per day so I guess I consider myself lucky..

I've heard some people say they have luck with actually answering them and trying to get to a person. I've tried that but never got to a person (it's an AI voice forever... I don't even know what the attempted scam is) and it made no difference to their frequency.

Ultimately, I think there's kinda nothing you can do about these type of calls, which is horrible.

Weirdest part is that they all come from STIR/SHAKEN verified numbers (you can tell by the checkbox in recent calls) which would in theory make the perpetrators easy to identify. And I'm on the Do Not Call list so if there's a real business behind this, even some fraudulent business, then every call would be a $1500 judgment in my favor.

The fix is to port your existing number to Google Voice and get a new phone number for actual calls and keep it secure. Any site you give your phone number to will just sell it all over the place and then you will be right back where you started.

I have a Google Voice number for any website, service, or form that requires one and only give my "real" phone number to friends, family, and coworkers. I also have a dead number that I use for all those grocery store membership cards and the like (sorry to anyone who inherited that recycled number). I get the occasional wrong number call, but zero spam calls.

Please explain what this switch to spanish does. What does it prevent?

Sorry for late replying.
My question goes... I'm used to have all my machines (smartphone also) in English language, but I live in a spanish speaking country, so I would like to have the option to answer the spam-robot calls in spanish, but keeping the system in english language.
I think is not possible...
If I keep the english language, the answer will be in english, so it wouldn't work.
Hope one day Apple can give that option.

It seems that a good use of "AI" would be to develop and train extremely strong spam/phishing filters for all form of electronic communications. Maybe something that would deeply analyze headers/packets/whatever and would block offenders large and small. Maybe these anti-spam enforcement systems would be able to flood the offenders with something that would disable their ability to bother people. It's a nuissance that needs to be corrected.
