4-6wk leadtime for website, 5-6wk on order status?

I ordered my 38mm SS with Milanese band two days ago, and it's being delivered today. The Apple Store shipping estimate said 2-3 weeks wait.

Could someone explain some of the dates i.e. Available to Ship vs. Delivers, when the 5-6 week window starts, why is the delivers window 8 days etc...I'm a logistics novice, by that I mean idiot. Pls be kind :)

WEEK 1: APRIL 25 - MAY 1 <--- "Ordered On April 25" ("Available to ship: June")
WEEK 2: MAY 2 - MAY 8
WEEK 3: MAY 9 - MAY 15
WEEK 4: MAY 16 - MAY 22 <--- (Now) "Available to ship: 5-6 weeks"
WEEK 5: MAY 23 - MAY 29
WEEK 6: MAY 30 - JUNE 5 <--- End of 5-6 weeks (if going by order date)
WEEK 7: JUNE 6 - JUNE 12
WEEK 8: JUNE 13 - JUNE 19
WEEK 9: JUNE 20 - JUNE 26
WEEK 10: JUNE 27 - JUNE 29 (JULY 3) <--- "Delivers: June 22 - June 29"

I would assume they mean 5-6 weeks from when the shipping availability changed to "5-6 weeks" so if your order status changed this week, the 6 weeks lines up with your delivery window...

I'm on the other side of this assumption. I'm choosing to believe that the 5-6 weeks shipping estimate correlates to the only "known" date which is the original order date. The delivers date, in my perspective, serves only as a buffer to give Apple some wiggle room in the event the "preparing for shipment" or "shipped" dates get delayed for one reason or another. In other words, the actual target for them to prepare for shipment is the shipping window. The delivers date range estimate is just there to give them an easy target to beat.

I'll soon find out if my theory is correct. My 4/18 order enters it's 5th week starting tomorrow and the first week of June will be my 6th week. If I'm right I should go into "preparing for shipment" within the next 2 weeks.

We'll see:confused:

The only problem I have is that when I ordered on May 7th I was given a "July" delivery. On May 15th it changed to 5-7 weeks and June 24-July 8. Today my delivery changed again to 4-5 weeks and now says June 26-July 2. If it were shipping 4-5 from order, that puts it shipping 3 weeks early (which I REALLY hope happens) but I doubt it.

Congrats on the 38mm shipping!

...really hope 42mm SS Milanese start moving. Order 4/11, still 6/22-6/29 window.

That's my point exactly. Disregard the "Delivers" date range. "Available to ship" estimate is the one I believe is important. In your case that means 4-5 weeks from May 7th (June 4-June 11) you should be preparing for shipment.

We'll soon know if my theory is correct.

I desperately hope you're correct :D

See and that's horse s@%t, because I ordered on 4/22 and I'm still 5-6 wks.. Others are having theirs change to 4-5 and ordered after mine.

That's what is confusing to me. If Apple is shipping them "as they are made", then why do I have 6/22-6/29 ship date from 4/11 order along with everyone else? Even people who order today more than a month after me.

Oh well, still holding out hope for 'under promise/over deliver' from Apple.

As much as I want to believe the 5-6 week is based on date, I'm not sure it is. I ordered on 4/12 and the 6 week mark for me is tomorrow and I haven't seen a charge on my card yet
