I don't believe these are genuine.

Take a look at the white bands, they do not form part of the structure of the main shell, they are simply 'stuck on'. The main metal part of the rear shell extends from end to end - so this would provide no radio-transparency - which is what the bands are designed for. Take a look at the 5S rear shell, there is a gap in the metal of the back plate at the top, providing the radio window.

My hunch - the cut-out logo will be real, and will provide the radio window the device needs. The bands - a deliberate red-herring, and will not appear on the finished product.

I'm not convinced this is genuine.

uSwitch are (in the UK at least), a site that's primarily there to help you get a better deal/contract for your <insert product category here>.

It's aim is to help you switch easily from (for example) one broadband provider to another, so I find it hard to believe they've suddenly gained access to a photo of one of the hottest and most shrouded in secrecy tech components around.

It appears the photos came as a result of uSwitch working with Sonny Dickson:

Today our snaps, which we worked with leaks-world lynchpin Sonny Dickson to source, could offer conclusive proof that this is indeed the case.

Something is definitely right with that, I can't see anyone with a genuine leak like that (assuming it's true) sharing it with uSwitch.

Wait, your saying you'd stick to 5s just based on the look of the new one? This will not be exactly how it will look, the shape and all is probably spot on but we all know apple makes good looking devices. Id still buy it though its just a look of it, you buy a phone for function not beauty

I'm saying that I take all factors into account when upgrading to the next 'premium' Apple device. There is a modest upgrade in specifications of the devices between 5S and 6, but most of the new features will come from iOS8, which will also be on my 5S.

So yes, all things considered, if it looked like this, I will keep my $$$ and go for another year with my 5S, until perhaps the specification upgrade of the 6S gives me enough incentive to lay out additional money.

that white banding looks terrible
Plus they make the top and bottom part look wider then the middle...yikes...if real, I realy hope the black/gray version has darker bands (compared to the rest of the case...well, if battery rumors are true I probably will have to continue using a juicepack anyway...so design may not be an issue for me....

....hmmm....thinking about it....nice example for a paradox: Design (thinner) being the primary focus to the point that functionality may not be achieved without sacrificing said design by using an extension....makes my head hurt ;-)

As with the iPhone 4 leak... people said "Look at those breaks in the steel on the side. That design is un-Apple."

Then Steve explained their existence at the keynote as being a part of the antenna system and blew us away.

I have a feeling the iPhone 6 lines contribute to some functionality that we don't know about yet. Maybe wireless charging...

A very good point. This is A 6, expect the unexpected. Also bands look very tactile. Health sensors perhaps???

Those breaks were the cause of antenna-gate though. Let's hope we don't get a repeat of that saga!

The ripples of that can still be felt on the forums today!

Careful...if Jhonny reads this he will make sure to ruin function so you do have to buy his product for beauty and not function...:D

Well obviously the breaks serve a purpose (assuming they remain in the final product), but that doesn't mean it looks good. The previous breaks were much smaller and less "visually intrusive". If it serves a cool enough purpose I'll live with it (well honestly, I'd probably live with it regardless), but as of right now I still think it looks pretty bad... which does lead me to believe that if Jony accepted this design, it must be absolutely necessary.

Am I the only one that doesn't mind the bands? They have to get a signal through the phone somehow, especially if they're going for an almost all aluminum design.

I'm not worried at all. Every time a product leaks, it turns out completely gorgeous and lust-worthy. For the past 10 years I don't think Apple's released a single flagship product that hasn't made me want to buy it immediately. Even when odd stuff leaks (e.g. the iPhone 4's original antenna bands, the iPhone 5's glass top and bottom) there's a good explanation and we all get accustomed to its look. Actually now that I think about it, the antennas have been the point of moaning and groaning for the past 4 years.

Really? How many iPod Socks do you own? :apple:

My concern over lack of hard evidence for a 5.5" version is reaching new highs. Where are the leaked parts for that version!! I realize that majority may not want a phone that big, but I do....and I want to stick with the Apple ecosystem. The decision is going to be painful if I only have a 4.7" version to choose from, compared with a Galaxy Note 4

People. We all know Apple is known for the time they take with the aesthetics of a product. I cannot believe that Apple would have antenna breaks that dominate the back of the phone. I mean your eyes go right to them. We could all be in for a rude awakening, but there is no way the powers that be at Apple could sign off on a design like that. Maybe any leaked early designs were maybe for early prototypes where the phone was "hidden" inside an outer shell, and they needed direct access to the antennas, so they did that? Then it stuck with the copies, but Apple has since moved on to the final design? I'm hoping. I'd def slap a case on that back!!!

But we shall see.

No way!

No ****ing way, those antenna bands give it away real bad!
Apple and Jon Ive would never even have a concept design that hideous!

If this turned out to be real I would have serious doubt about Apple!
I'm a long, long (even before iPhone) Apple hardcore fan, and this would make me wonder if Apple will ever be even close to what they were with Steve Jobs!

Steve Jobs would never let a design like that even be used as a decoy!
Jon Ive will come through with another knockout punch! Please Jon, don't let us down!!!:apple:

This is not my POST!!!

Quite a lot of dislike for those bands still, I see.

I don't know about you lot but I tend to stare at the other side of the device. You know, the bit where the screen is? ;) :p

I've said it before and will say it again, if those thick white bands are part of the final product for sale I will sell my Apple stock. But I'm not worried because I don't expect the final product to look like what we see here.

guys, you all are getting worked up over the bands, its a pre-production unit. They're not going to be there for the final product.
