So no one is going to mention that it looks just like the iPhone 4/4S with Touch ID and slimmer bezel? No one? Not a soul? Great design either way.

Well, I must say I kinda like it. The thiner idea sucks, as it would bend too easy. Unless they are going back to steel frames like the 4 series had??? Hopefully they keep the footprint close to the current size. Best concept video so far. :D

"468 pixels per inch"

Near-meaningless marketing fluff that some companies would go for.

But Apple would recognize: that kind of PPI burns battery and slows performance while being essentially invisible.

It's like the old megahertz and megapixels wars. Displsy quality matters, in many differenr aspects. Beyond a certain point, PPI is not one of them.

Impressive 3D skills, but boring phone.

the problem is your desire for a phone to fill the emptiness of life. the phone is a mobile device to do things, not the circus. mature tech.

Nice concept, but I want a curved back in the form of the the iPad Air, or something completely "different". :apple:

unless the curved back serves a purpose, that wont happen. they dont do change for change's sake. thankfully.

Sure it's a marketing gimmick, but compare a 720p screen to a 1080p screen and tell me you don't prefer the higher PPI.

When this 1080p iPhone comes out, it's going to make the iPhone 5's ~720p screen look awful.

Come out with a 5.5 inch and Apple wins me back.

do keep us posted as to your status. we're dying to know if we've lost you for good!

I like the silent/vibration slider switch. But I would like to see a flat back that curves pebble like to smooth rounded edges like the Galaxy phones. Not a big fan of the sharper edge sides of the iPhone 5 series.

i did like that about the 3G/S and the 5c. just a bit more comfortable in the hand.

I dig this mock up video. It's the little details I like such as the mute switch resembling the settings toggle, and the nice healthbook icon.

Also a 4.7in screen isn't only 17% bigger than a 4in screen (it is diagonally 17% longer) it has a 38% larger screen.

the screen is bigger, but by thinning the bezels they could get more screen into the device, w/o the need to scale the entire device bigger.

they also don't let you use some phone cases, like silicone ones from Amzer.

the last of apple's concerns is whether third-party case designs will continue to work. in fact, it's not even a concern. count on it.

Hire this guy.

to do what? apple already has animators. oh, and they also have the best actual hardware engineers in the business.

it's entirely dependent on your viewing distance. past a certain distance you cannot distinguish the difference of those TVs. likewise w/ phones. if the use case for normal usage is at a point where the difference is no difference, then they wont do it.

Why do people waste their time on these concepts and mock ups? They don't give us any real insight into Apple's plans and are always only skin deep. The worst are the software mock ups - it's easy to design a clean-looking interface in photoshop, but they rarely take into consideration all the usability concerns of actual software. The whole thing is a very odd type of fan fiction.

Because it's fun. People like to do things that they enjoy.

The sapphire crystal displays Apple is making in Arizona is probably for the 'iWatch' and probably not for the iPhone 6. Think about it, you need an incredibly hard and scratch resistant display for a device that is on your wrist 8 to 12 hours a day and constantly exposed to the elements.

You might have hit the nail on the head there. I just hope that for the iPhone 6, Jony can deliver something fresh and original instead of plagiarising himself year after year ;)

Sounds like you're caught up in the marketing "explanation" still.

Yes, it is statistically true, that "within a reasonable distance, your eye cannot discern the difference", but that is based on an average. If the median distance from your face where you can't discern the difference between 720p and 1080p is 12 inches. Then when you're laying in bed and using your phone (much closer than 12 inches) you can easily tell the difference (I see pixels every night on my iPhone screen). Likewise, if you were to look at the phone at 14 inches away instead of 12 inches, you would not immediately no longer be able to tell the difference. It is on average that the person would not be able to tell the difference. I would say that at 14 inches you can still tell the difference, and maybe 16 not as much, and definitely by 18 or 20 you can't tell at all.

In short, sure the average person might think a 720p 32" TV looks the same as a 1080p 32" TV from 10 feet away, but I bet if someone has 20-10 vision they would still be able to tell the difference. You can't group all people into one holistic group like "retina" statistics do. My computer screen (rMBP) is "retina" quality, yet a 4k display looks much crisper than this....at any distance.

I don't think there's anything else to ask for. This concept is just perfect! I like the this mute switch concept much more than the current one. The longer volume buttons are nice, too.

considering his name i find it kinda disappointing that he didnt demo it with his colleague
