The cpu throttling thing, while true, is IMO being blown way out of proportion by the enthusiast crowd.

The iPhone never had a pulsometer, has also removed the headphone jack, and only gotten more expensive over the years as well.

Samsung has promised 4 years of major OS support on the new S22 line, and provides 3 on previous flagship lines and does a pretty darn good job of that - significantly better than any other Android OEM (though admittedly still worse than Apple). But you're right, anything other than their flagships is a total crapshoot with regard to future update support.

I tried the S22 for a week and it's a really nice, smooth, well rounded Android experience, with great form factor, and a great camera. I had no issues with battery life either. I really liked it and would've stuck with it; however, I'm just too tied into the iOS ecosystem, especially with clients/friends/family, and the change is too harsh for them... ?‍♂️
And my point was that Samsung has turned its phone into a low-grade Iphone for not a cheap price. Why do I want to buy their handset, now? It all adds up to less value after you sell it used. A used S21 (about a year old) in good shape goes for just over 500,000 won, here in Korea. Comparable Iphone 12 goes for almost $200 more (base Iphone is difficult to find -- you can find used mini and pro all day, like the S21). After 1 year of ownership, the Samsung phone drops quickly in resale. Look at the S10. Used, an IPhone XS still goes for as much as $100-$200 more. And despite Samsung's extended updates, Apple still retains value longer. I don't see Samsung keeping its value longer, as competition from Google and Chinese models add more features for less money. This is my reasoning. And I haven't even mentioned the battery gains Apple has made, while Samsung has actually dropped. Oddly, what might KEEP me in the Samsung fold are phones like the a52s or a53 (we'll see what that brings). I see value in that, per price. But paying Apple prices for a Samsung that looks pretty, has a fast but throttled processor, yet has reduced functionality? I'll go cheaper Android midrange phone, or go Apple, if I care to spend more.

I think if there was an option titled

“I don’t want Face ID”

that that would score as the highest reason
I bought 2020 model on sale last year, for my 86 year old mother. it was a good upgrade from her 7, and lack of Face ID was a factor in the decision. I’d did not want to deal with her having Face ID problems.

I hope they sort out the terrible battery life, because the thing is practically unusable for anyone who actually uses a phone. They really should kill off this design imo, it's embarrassing when you compare it against the competition at the same price point.
Really? Do you actually mean it has a terrible battery life for someone who is browsing insta and tic tok all day long? I almost never use mine has a time killer, and simply use it for a phone and texting, listening to podcasts, and occasional camera, map, etc, and the battery lasts all day. If I go heavy on it for some reason, I plug it in to charge for 30 mins and all good.

Does that mean 40% iPhone users have an iPhone already which is worse than the SE? Doesn’t sound right.

40% ? really ? BS. Also understand that significant lower end/priced iPhones are bought by local, state, etc government agencies, small businesses, healthcare for there employees.

You've got a problem with AT&T, not 5G

Kinda like blaming Ford for high fuel prices.
And I have an Android TMobile 5G phone that is no better. You're saying Verizon is the only US Carrier doing 5G correctly?

It doesn't matter. All carriers advertise that 5G is super-fast and that if you upgrade to 5G you can download movie in seconds, etc. Not true. It's over-hyped "fake news".

T-Mobile just now on my iphone 13 pro.

Now if I go drive around the county I may end up seeing more LTE like rates in the tens of Mbps. Seems to depend not just on the signal strength but also (speculation) on an individual tower's utilization and backhaul.

Point is that individual experiences will vary by location and other factors and it is inaccurate to make blanket statements about whether 5G works or doesn't work.

Now that the price ($429) is out I'm guessing closer to 4%. Ridiculous, it's a glorified 8.

I don't live in the US so have no idea what carrier is doing what right, which is irrelevant as 5G is still not the issue, its the crappy carriers you've got there. If they are falsely advertising unattainable speeds to customers they should be sued.

So let's rephrase, 5G is highly relevant in most of the world.

I will be honest. I really like Android. But in my opinion, I just see the iPhone pulling away in CPU power, and overall value/longevity. It hasn't even been out a month, and already the new Samsung S22 line has been caught having to throttle its CPU to keep temps in line. Samsung and Apple are basically what we can get in Korea, anymore. LG is gone. Pixel is not allowed in here. Samsung has already downgraded and removed so many features from my old Galaxy Note 9, and charge too much. Lower resolution, no pulseometer, no earphone jack, terrible speakers far worse than my old Note 9. Yep, every Samsung S22 phone, except the ultra, has LOWER resolution than my Note 9. They have systematically removed most of the features that kept me with Android, and downgraded others. The Samsung line really is becoming like a slower iPhone with less resale. I already forsee HEAVY discounts coming on the S22, because so many are going to dump or avoid it due to the throttling. Another frustration -- my daughter's aging A8Star (midranger) has as fast of a CPU, or faster, than new low-mid-range Samsung A-series phones, and it is 3 years old! But she isn't allowed upgrades. It's like Samsung is spinning its wheels and removing features to put them back in later, at a higher price. Or, you can pay more than an iPhone 13 Max just to get MOST of them in the S22 Ultra.
The funny thing about this is that even if you want to have better specs, you know yourself that you aren't almost ever going to be taking advantage of all the power it even offers.
