40mm vs 44mm Apple Watch S4 - Which will you get?

is that just the black nike band? it looks so good in these photos. I got the 40mm watch because I have tiny wrists. So far I haven't found that an issue with the screen being too small and complicaitons.

It is just the standard Nike band, I would say the Series 6 Nike band looks almost graphite colour in certain light. Prefer the Nike band since for me it breathes better than the standard sports version.

I agree regarding screen size, no complaints here, in fact it is a nice step up from the 38mm.

no. i think the 44mm fits pretty good to your wrist.

Struggling with this decision myself.

And for anyone interested, this is an interesting read if you want to compare traditional watch sizing’s normal diameter vs lug-to-lug size.

Apple watch’s sizing is more comparable to the lug-to-lug size, since it’s the true height/length of the watch.

But one can argue how it fits is very different due to the rectangular shape. Just because you can wear a traditional watch with 48-49mm lug-to-lug doesn’t mean you should wear a 44.

It looks big to me. If you like it and prefer the larger size because of the larger screen, then that makes perfect sense. However, from a purely aesthetic point of view, it looks oversized. Now, a lot of people prefer the look of oversized these days apparently, so it's up to you. FWIW, I ordered the 40 mm S5 cellular and I have a 172 mm wrist. However, I traditionally preferred smaller and thinner watches (back when I actually wore them) since it's easier and nicer to wear them with all clothing (including long sleeve shirts with cuffs). Furthermore, in terms of screen real estate the 40 mm actually is bigger than the 42 mm. I'll give it a shot and see how I like it over the next while. If I find my aging eyes squinting too much, then perhaps I'll switch to the 44 mm. However, I already have a nice big 12 Pro Max for the main stuff.

BTW, kudos on listing your wrist size. There are way too many posts in here asking if 40 or 44 is better, without much other frame of reference.

P.S. Should the title of the thread be changed now? S4-S6?

I thought 44mm would be too big (came from 42mm) but tbh I compared it to my partners 42mm and it isn’t that much bigger, I love the 44mm and not sure how I’d manage with 40mm.

I originally ordered the 40 mm for my son because I thought that the 44 mm would be too big! After trying on the S/M band with my watch on him, it fit perfectly. Knowing that my son will have the watch for at least two years and grow, the 44 mm became a better choice. Besides, the GizmoGadget he has is already the same size of the 44. The little bit of extra battery life and larger screen size was also apart of the decision!

Yeah but how big is his wrist?

As mentioned before, Watch size purchase choices don’t really have much meaning for the rest of us if you don’t tell us the wrist size.

I have a 40mm and also have flat wrists. I don’t really like big watches personally and like to see a bit of wrist either side of any watch that I wear.

I wonder if your watch looks larger because the space grey frame adds to the face size. Whereas a silver frame subtracts and makes the face feel smaller?

Regardless, I probably should try out a 44mm.
