Why did you go from SS to SG?

A few reasons I went from SS to SG

1. Price - even with being comfortable with my finances, $650+ didn't seem right for a 1st gen product with sluggish app support and TBH it wasn't that special looking. Can't see myself investing too much money into bands either to make the SS look better.

2. Weight - Now its not that big of a deal in weight difference, but being very active I felt the lighter sport would be a better fit for my lifestyle.

3. Look - I originally was dead set on the SG at launch for the stealth look, but pulled the trigger on a SS. After not liking that look, I ordered a SG to go for my original thought process. The classy all black looks the cleanest I think.

Maybe 2nd/3rd gen when the hardware and software improves I will invest more money to a SS watch again

I wonder if Apple is pausing to stock retail stores. Watches ordered on April 11 moved up to June 3-5, while mine, ordered one day later on April 12 went to June 16-22. :(

Something tells me they are expecting to be pretty much good to go soon and all these orders will start flying out.. It's just me talking out of my ass of course, but they've had over a month and knew exactly how many they needed to produce for a while now..

From what I'm seeing on the May 29 - June 11 forum (which I'm now technically under since my shipping estimate was changed from June 22-29 to June 4-8) a lot of people are getting their watches already even though Apple just told them their shipping window was the 29th. It's looking like Apple is shipping U.S preorders taking place around noon of April 10th and moving fairly quickly. Personally, I expect most preorders will get their devices before the shipping window Apple just gave us over these last two days. But of course that could just be my wishful thinking.

----------

To be a bit more specific, the spreadsheets and forum commenters who preordered April 10th before noon already have their devices shipped and are expecting them over the next two days. People who preordered around noon and up to an hour or two after noon (depending on time zones) are being notified today that their orders are prepping for shipping.

Could you link one of the spreadsheets please?

Thanks

42 mm SG BSB
Ordered: April 29
Original delivery: Jun 22 to Jun 29
Updated yesterday:
Delivery: 2-3 weeks
Date: June 15 to Jun 22

Sydney Australia

I ordered mine on the same date and the same watch, but in the US. Will be interesting to see when your watch ships and is delivered versus mine.

ditto. same watch. same date. USA. got the same new date range this morning. <I want it now!>

This morning, my 42mm SGS BSB was updated to ships in 2-3 weeks. Delivers 16 June - 22 June. I was hoping for the first or second week of June but any improvement is progress!

I just noticed on the Apple Store website that if you order the 42mm SGS BSB online today it also says available to ship in 2-3 weeks. Soooooo..... ordering today is the same as ordering a month ago? lol

Actually that 2-3 weeks covers all the way from April 12 to present, so more than 6 weeks.

that can only mean we'll all get our watches next week

Yep I expect our orders next week or def within 10 days

With WWDC set for June 8th, you know part of that will talking apple watch numbers and announcing in store date for Friday the 12th

see? it all comes together...

I'll be leaving the thread now that my SG 42mm BSB is on my wrist.

Ordered 4/10, 5:35:17 EDT, initial promise "June",
Updated promise "May 29 - Jun 11",
Actual delivery May 27 around noon.

So far I really like it. I had to call Apple support about something that seemed like a reset loop that they say was caused by failure to fully pair the first time.

Mine bumped down to June 18 to June 24, did yours come down any more either?

Yes it did. Yesterday it dropped to June 16-22. Apparently that's when orders placed TODAY will also arrive, so I'm cautiously optimistic it will arrive even sooner.

I ordered 4/16, so for Apple to wait until then to fulfill my order PLUS all orders placed from then through online orders placed today seems unlikely.
