How do you know this for a fact?

All people are saying is that it's a very consistent coincidence that people's order status changes are happening after planes land in either Ontario, California or Louisville, KY typically about an hour and a half to two hours after landing. This has been the trend we've seen up till now and I don't see any reason it's going to change.

This is of course speculation but it's kind of hard to argue with the fact that the two events are extremely possibly connected together. Of course I have no definitive proof that my theory is correct, but neither does the other side that are insisting that status changes are happening in China when the packages take off from there.

Would be nice if we had a true insider who definitively knows without a doubt the exact process. But since we don't have one of those then all we can do on both sides is speculate and argue about it.
a lot of words to say "you"re wrong but i don't know either."

My experience is with past Apple purchases that shipped from the Chinese factory but via FedEx and in that case the entire tracking sequence showed. China, Anchorage, Memphis (FedEx remember), Mississauga, Peterborough, On local truck for delivery.

The delay time in people's charges going through and tracking info becoming available is pretty consistent with in transit from China to when the product hits Louisville and starts to show up in UPS system.

Conf from Apple: xx:12:18
Delivery: May 13-27
Charged: no
Processing items
Western MA

I've been patient (mostly) throughout and I'm still very excited to receive my Watch. The only thing that I wish Apple would do is update our delivery dates since I'm guessing they have a better bead on how the product is moving through their system.

Like a lot of other people have mentioned, being available for UPS on very short notice isn't that easy. It would be nice if our window was narrowed down a bit.

You say that and highlight one particular part of one sentence in my statement....why not highlight the rest of the sentence?

The two retina iMacs my wife and I ordered in November last year tracking started in California. And we know that those things weren't made in the US. So logic would say that they were already in the US before we got billed and they "shipped".

As far as the 2nd part of your statement here that was added while I was replying. I saw people report that they went from processing, to PFS, to shipped all within about three or so hours. How can a package get from China to Louisville or Ontario, California in that short of a period of time? Just curious.

I bolded that part because it said everything. You were calling me out as wrong, offered a lengthy explanation of why and then said you didn't really know.

Sometimes Apple has stock in the US for standard products. Sometimes even pre-launch. But my Retina MBPro was custom configured and came from the factory via FedEx. Tracking info as previously noted.

I am relating my personal experience which seems to cause you difficulties. You don't have to agree with me. I don't actually care if you do or don't. My Watch has been PFS for about 17 hours now. It may not show in UPS system until it clears customs into Canada. My CC charges don't show online until days after they charge me so I really can't speak to the relationship between being charged and getting the shipment notice.

My credit card billing didn't show until 4 days after they billed my card and after the prepared for shipment status update.

By your logic, what then happens to the watches that the payment gets declined? You're not thinking about the whole scenario. UPS doesn't do 3rd party billing. The UPS HUB isn't designed to be a storage facility with warehouse workers that pick the correct watch with the correct serial number to place a shipping label on it.

UPS does logistics and they advertise it in a major way. Check the URL above, see the parts where it says pick & pack, storage services, and inventory management?

I got charged Saturday early a.m. (before I woke up). What are the chances of a Monday delivery?

Same here still waiting for tracking info. I also have the UPS app but nothing. Was hoping for Monday but it's not looking good.

Same here. I found some previous posts who were charged on Sat and their delivery was on Tues. It was a quick search so maybe some out there who got it on Monday with Sat charge?

JUST got my shipping notification! Have a tracking number but it is not working yet. I will update when it does!

I just looked back through the thread to last Sunday to see when charges happened then. Charges happened early in the morning and there weren't any later in the day. Not sure if anything is applicable to today since a lot seems to have changed in the process since then. Regardless, last Sunday was a slow day in charges.

Maybe since there weren't any charges over night we will get some around 2pm EST today?

2 PM PDT was the charge time for mine. I wish I would have paid more attention to the shipping details of past posters! Have gone through previous posts but can't find my answer to next question..... does anyone know how long the lag is from getting the tracking number to actually being able to track?

OK, glad to know it's not just my tracking number that isn't working yet.....Boy has this whole process increased my OCD!

Haha! It's been added to my support profile as well, listing yesterday as purchase date. I can't see how to check on when it was manufactured- someone in a post earlier asked to see when they were being made.

It's probably a safe bet that Apple would never move their estimates forward. Imagine the vitriol if they did so and something happened to delay a shipment back to its original estimate; better to "under-promise and over-deliver" than to raise anyone's expectations.

In the case of many of us, it looks like Apple is going to deliver within the early part of our originally-estimated window, which is good enough for me. I won't pretend that Apple didn't drop the ball a bit when it comes to having enough stock for launch, but at least they've been good about not getting behind as far as I can tell.

This thread has highlighted the lack of patience creeping into today's society. "I want it and I want it now" is so juvenile and entitled. Relax everyone. You'll get your watch when you get it. It's not life or death.

The reason for this thread is because we all preorder at midnight to be first to get watch we all were all ready inpatient since then,

UPS has what's called "world ease". Individual shipments are bulked together and get combined (vs. individual) customs clearing at the port of entry. The individual orders/items remain trackable. This shows for bands which are originating in China.

I still firmly believe that Apple ships to the US in bulk. Then the orders are processed at Apple facilities and packaged/labeled for individual orders upon successful CC charges. Watches are already in the U.S. when your status changes to PFS.

I work in the delivery business and completely agree with this

This is true for the Apple Watch but, for example, if you order a custom (non stock) Mac on release, tracking begins in China and the tracking number is active from China. Tracking for the watch seems to be active only after it has left a US warehouse.
