Apple: I do see an authorization charge was placed on your credit card today. Now that is merely a hold on your account which will drop in a day or two. Your credit card will be charged in real once the Apple Watch is actually shipped out which shows to be between tomorrow and 27th May.
It certainly is a good indication though; seems like your Apple Watch is being ready to ship out; Once your order ships, you will receive a notification email with the tracking information.

I don't know if that will be the case. Most people who post here about being charged get changed to PFS soon after.
Status: Preparing for shipment!
Not that I don't believe you, but can you provide a screenshot? 12:38 is significantly further along than anyone else that's been charged.
If it's 3:10-3:12 tonight, then I'm guessing 3:12 to finish tomorrow (Wednesday), and hoping us at 3:13 on Thursday, for a Friday delivery. But, I'm guessing a Monday delivery for us. We should definitely be charged this week, though!
Disregard what the chat reps tell you and trust our experience; new charges so far after the pre-order mean that your Watch is in the process of preparing to ship. It's probable that overnight tonight or early tomorrow a shipping label will be printed for you and you'll see your status update along with receiving a tracking number for UPS.
Many of us have been through this multiple times; this is a good sign. Don't let the chat reps bring you down now.
EDIT: And like clock work mine changed to Preparing for Shipment. Just keep checking; you're golden.
This is just a typical CYA statement. Generally (so far at least) it would give you hope of changing to shipment status within the next 12 hours.
Eh, that's not how it works. You got a hold when you placed your order. You can only actually be charged when the merchandise is available to ship. A charge actually is a hold followed by the merchant sending the actual transaction in the next few days to your card issuer and that hold amount is replaced by the actual transaction amount. You card issuer determines how long that hold stays on. Some drop it that night, others will keep it for up to 10 days. Unless, you have multiple items in your order, you should not have more than the hold at order time and then a hold at shipping time. If you have more that 2, the 1st at time of order would be for the total of all items, then you may have separate auths for the individual items as they ship.
