Man, I can't believe this drought. Every time I come back and check I'm expecting something. Other than the tiny movement yesterday its going on almost 90+ hours without a real wave. I wonder what is causing this delay. I know they are shipping the links, leather loops, and modern buckles, but I would think the Space Gray Sport would be using different lines of productions.

I am completely confused by this. After the last wave I was very confident that I'd get charged by this weekend. What happened?!? :(

After a drought it's time for the monsoon!

He's still CEO and Apple is still making bank

This is funny--truly.

However, Tim Cook is actually one of the logistic geniuses of our time. If anyone else were running Apple right now, the situation would have been even worse. There are a number of reasons we have had to wait a few weeks (notice it's just a few weeks, not months) for a completely new product.

1. Production Time: Yes, it was 8 months from the time they announced the watch until they began to sell them. Those were not 8 months of production but 8 months of refining the product. I am glad they took more time to refine the watch than to just begin cranking them out beginning in the fall.

2. Unknown number of orders: Nobody knew how many of these things people would want. Yes, there are always the early adopters, like many of us, but we are not the bulk of orders. I wasn't even sure I wanted one until a few weeks before launch as the watch become a more known quantity and I realized how I would use it.

3. Production constraints: Nobody can defy the laws of physics. To make something you need materials and labor. There continue to be a record number of iPhones produced even as they bring on a completely new product. There are not just a few thousand people waiting around in China with nothing to do. They had to go out and hire thousands of new employees, many of whom probably moved from elsewhere in China. Because of refining the product until the last month, they have not had a lot of time to produce mass quantities of the watch.

4. Production problems: These are inevitable with a new product. Whether the taptic engine or black bands, manufacturing problems were inevitable. At least it's Apple dealing with it. With other companies this would have led to months delay, rather than days. I'm glad they take the little bit of extra time to get it right rather than shipping defective devices that would not last and would have led to a massive recall.

I think the biggest problem with this whole thing, as many of you have noted, was the expectations of the timing of shipping this thing. Maybe it would have been better if they had begun to take pre-orders from the early adopters months in advance to get a better sense of how many to make of each variety of watch.

Regardless, we will all get our new watches within the next few weeks, two months after release at the very longest. In the greater scheme of things, that's not too bad. I would have loved to have had the watch a month ago, but I did not have it before and life was pretty good. I'm still looking forward to my new toy! :)

Apple is still making bank, and will still make bank even if we wait until the tail end of the estimated delivery date. Yes, I want my xx:15:08 watch now, but one week after I've been wearing it, I'll forget I waited so long. A month later I'll still have before the July deliveries are made; one year from now, I'll completely forgot about the wait.

I will not forget worst experience with apple for me to date they better have a different option for ordering next gen or they will have at least lost my next watch purchase.

To me, it's like I've waited in line for a ride at Disneyland. The sign said it was 120 minutes, but the person at the end of the line said it might be less. I got right to the front of the line after 100 minutes, and then the ride broke down temporarily.

$#!& happens. We'll all still get to ride the ride.

Do we ?? Are you sure??

Sometimes they tell everyone the ride needs major matinence and then it's out of order for the rest of your vacation.

Think about the poor bastard that died before he got his watch. I mean statistically one of us dropped off before they got it.

I think they should put my watch in a box and mail it to my house. Yesterday.

I feel the issue is this: when we prepared to order on the 10/4 we all believed we would get our products near enough to the launch date. :apple: clearly knew otherwise. That's what has dented consumer confidence and rightly so. We feel a little misled. People righteously declaring that customers should be patient are missing that very real point.
The launch should have been delayed or customers should have been made clear of the delays so they could have ordered accordingly. Do remember that this is a customer led market. Shoot their confidence and you are done for.

USPS just delivered this. It's lonely.

I have a lonely stand, screen protector and Spigen case :(

----------

Nearest Apple Store is 90 minutes away so I have not seen a watch in person yet. As I had to go to Chicago this AM I stopped in an Apple Store and tried on a 42mm space gray sport with black band. Now I am really looking forward to the end of this delivery window!!!

It seems like it's been forever since we've seen numerous people get charged on here. I really cannot wait to hear what Jeff has to say about this whole thing.
