Waiting and Hazing?

Here's a hypothesis to ponder while you wait for your watch:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hazing

...persons who go through a great deal of trouble or pain to attain something tend to value it more highly than persons who attain the same thing with a minimum of effort.

Now - compare this to the wait we're going through for the watch. Sure, this is a first time product, and Apple is reportedly having some problems with manufacturing (haptic engine..., faulty bands...). I discount this, especially given that it's so easy to get a band in the store. I couple that with the fact that there are only ~2 million watches sold and ~1 million delivered to date. Compare that to the initial iPhone 6 weekend, where Apple dropped 10 million into users hands that very weekend - could trillion-dollar Apple be that poor at execution?

This all leads me to believe that Apple wants to haze all of you who are reading this thread, because when you get your watch, you might be more inclined to like it or at least talk it up. People will undoubtedly ask you for your opinion when they see it on your wrist. Apple may be banking on your gushing personal experience.

Food for thought. Think about that after you've had the watch for a few days.

How long to go from PFS to in hand? I've heard some lucky people have gotten it at their door the day after PFS?

The 1 million and 2 million numbers you reference are for the U.S. only. This watch is being delivered all over the world.

I think that is junk food.

I had no trouble ordering the watch. Took me about 3 minutes. They gave me an estimate for delivery and delivered it before the window they promised.

There was no pain in the process. I almost had a paper cut when opening the box, but was able to avoid that.

A little closer...

Ordered the AWS 42mm SG w/ BSB on 4/10 @ 8:16 am PT from Spokane, WA. It looks like the next day or 2 we might see shipments for the folks like me who did not stay up all night or set an alarm to order right at launch.

So for those of us in the 11 hour plus side of the launch we just might see our watch at the beginning of the 5/29 - 6/11 estimated delivery date.

Been watching my wife use her's for the better part of a week and I am excited to get my own! Just say'n

Regards

Is anyone's UPS tracking number still not loading? I received email confirmation that it shipped yesterday afternoon, but the UPS website shows no info for the tracking number (it says it doesn't exist).

I don't have a tracking number yet, but in the past when i was charged for an apple purchase and it was moved to preparing for shipment i could always track by reference. (phones, laptops, etc)
I can't seem to pull up tracking by reference yet, but maybe you could try?

Don't fear. Happened to me with another product before. I checked the morning it was OFD and it finally appeared and came on my door that afternoon.

ups.com
track by reference
put the 10 digit phone number associated with your order and your zip and it should populate.

Always has worked in the past for me. It worked for my GFs watch that arrived on launch day.

Let us know if yours worked!

I'm in the same boat. Tried tracking by reference but nothing either.

Just got my watch! So worth the wait. Good luck everyone! Your watches are coming soon!! Ordered mine 55 minutes in

Received my Shipped conformation email from Apple with UPS tracking number yesterday at 6:40PM, but the number still isn't showing up in UPS system. How does it take for the tracking number to start working? Apple says delivery on the 27th

As someone else said, that happens a lot, but if it says delivery by tomorrow it should be there.
I've had deliveries show up before the tracking number registers plenty of times.

Thanks for the tips everyone! I tried tracking by both the order number and phone number, but neither worked. I'm sure it'll update in the UPS system overnight. Just odd that almost 24 hours later, it still doesn't show that the tracking number exists in the UPS system.
