it is my opinion that apple did not make many if any space black link watches prior to the pre-order. i have not seen very many if any that received one on launch day. there are a few that have them from pre-trial but not seen anyone get one.

I agree, they clearly didn't make them prior to preorder and still may not have any production models made for all we know.

Does anyone know what shipping time was of you ordered the link separately right at 01? I'm hoping we get our watches before they start shipping those out.

42mm SS link
3:04am EST order and 17 seconds.
May 13-27
Hoping to see it before the May 13th date, but won't be too upset as I knew what I was getting into.

Available to ship: 2-4 weeks
Delivers April 29-May 12

I think that if anything, this means that your watch will likely arrive before May 13. I can't see the watch body itself adding a 2-4 week delay. I figure that Apple will begin getting these watches into their customers' hands by May 1.

This waiting with not a peep of news for 42mm SS links is killing me softly each and every day! I so wanted to have it for our trip. I was ready to navigate the city without having to stop and dig out my phone.

I completed the purchase of my SS 42mm SB with black bracelet at 1203 and received confirmation at 1205. When i placed the order the range was 2-4 weeks and by the time i placed the order was June. I'm surprised that many people who placed an order 8 hours later for the same configuration received the same shipping range of "June". Here is to hoping it comes sooner.

How disappointing... It's crazy.

I think not many of us were fortunate enough to get May delivery, they must not project having many ready. I think the production time limits delivery, hence the July estimates for new orders.

I wanted to wait to try one on before ordering. I ordered the 42 SS link in store at 10:07 am eastern on April 10. Got the date range of May 13-27. No charge or pre-authorization on my CC, no change in shipping details.

I ordered a black link SS on 4/10 at 5 minutes past and had a delivery date of June. After seeing it at the store I decided it wasn't worth the huge premium and canceled it.

Ordered 42 SS link 3:02 eastern with 3:03 email confirm. Talked to a guy at work that got his sg sport 42 white sports band and he really likes it. I played around with it s bit and it's interesting but not mind blowing. I am a complete Apple fanboy with 3 apple tvs, new 5k Mac, new MacBook retina 12 inch (awesome by the way), an old iMac, 4 iPhone 6's, 4 iPads in family etc. get new iPhones every 2 years on launch day.

But, I am starting to waiver on the apple watch after seeing one and reading these threads. I run 5 days a week and that is the biggest draw for me, but I'm having second thoughts.

Recent Apple Store visit

I agree, they clearly didn't make them prior to preorder and still may not have any production models made for all we know.

I just visited the Apple Store in Southpark Mall in Charlotte this weekend.
They had the Space Black under the glass at the Watch table, but all the "try-on" versions had been removed from the store. I asked Genius Jessica if the Northlake Mall store had any and she said they were removed from there as well... I think they may have discovered a problem with the carbon coating or something. Ive searched thru hundreds of unboxing/home based reviews of the watch and no one has posted pics or vids of a space black Apple watch in either 38 or 42mm flavor....

Thanks!

This mysterious disappearance and lack of availability to me would indicate some type of production issue. I also wouldn't be surprised as I can easily see issues arising with the DLC coating. The only ones in store are under glass and can't touched! The regular SS Links are at least available for try on. You would think they would want the SS Space Black model available for try on at least to simply promote it.

PRoblem is though there are no SS links out in the wild either.

They have given some ss links away for promotion. So SS links are at least wearable. I haven't seen anyone wear the black link. However, I order the ss link watch so haven't kept a close eye on the black. Did they say it takes 7 hours to make? Did they only hire one person to make them? Kidding.

starting to regret getting the link for the price. also ordered a bsb. Should've just ordered that band with the watch or not at all. Really wanted this thing but now having second thoughts after seeing a lot of the reviews, etc.

I saw some positive reviews on the ss :apple: watch yesterday. I am also having second thoughts on spending so much on the ss link. The excruciating wait isn't helping things. Then I see a photo and think it's the nicest watch band for dress. I don't know why but just not a fan of the milanese loop. It seems kind of retro 1985 to me.

The Milanese Loop is surprisingly comfortable to wear and doesn't look half bad when it's on (coming from an initial skeptic of that style of band) so I may end up getting it as an alternative band, along with a Black Loop and Sport band. I'm just being stubborn at this point about my SS with Link Bracelet, haha.

I visited the Santa Monica Apple store on Saturday and they had quite a few SS Link watches under the case and to try on (which I did). The first time I tried on, however, they only had one and it had a broken clasp.

Gasp, broken? They need to hide that ASAP lol.

On a side note did anyone else get almost angry at the Apple Watch is Here email today? I was ready to shatter the iMac. Get my hopes up for nothing why don't you APPLE!

I was actually quiet shocked. It really makes me nervous about getting the link bracelet. The whole reason I'm getting the link is to prolong the life of the watch/band (and not buy future bands until the connection is modified).

It was only the second day of try-ons too.

The girl that was helping me at the time didn't know why it was broke. She just shrugged it off and said it must just be faulty.

The second time I did a try on (this past Saturday) the girl, who seemed to know about the watches extensively, said her thought was that people were taking the bands off incorrectly. She said to properly take the link band off, you need to unclasp one of the links so the band is separated. Then individually take out each band from the watch. DO NOT try to take off the band when strapped together as a whole.

I don't know what the truth is.
