It sounds possible.
Especially when considering the price drop in Germany last week (on monday!).

Just a hunch based on some insider info that is usual pretty acurate! Could be wrong... We'll see....

I hope you're right :p it certainly needs a price drop. But with the 3G model just around the corner I dunno if I'd bite.

I'll rip my remaining hair out if they drop the price - imagine how many O2 customers will do the same?

Surely they won't reduce the price of the iPhone to be cheaper than the iPod Touch? Free Phone! Free Phone!

This could happen by o2 subsidising part of the cost. Plus there's little to no running fee for an iPod Touch.

And yeah, what a load :p

The tariff prices are so ludicrous in Germany that they more than make up for the subsidisation of the iPhone handset over the length of the contract.

I can't see them dropping the price, especially if the 3G phone is only around the corner. That's not to say the hardware shouldn't be cheaper of course.

Very true.

I can sort of understand why he said it but it would be pretty ludicris if it did happen, but again, out with the old in with the new.

If this is indeed true, bang go my plans to sell this one and upgrade. Oh well, the price of bleeding edge technology I guess.

Good find. Hopefully my Apple-shipment won't come before then, so i'll cancel it and grab it. Although an iPhone on my contract (unlimited data transfer is £8 per month, which is 8mb (yes.. ''unlimited'') would be stupid.

Well done to the original OP for at least taking a chance on predicting the exact day the price reduction will occur on.

It does seem set to take place, though I wouldn't be surprised if it only applies to the 8GB model, I'm think demand for the 16GB is still quite strong?

As someoen about to buy one as I can only see us getting V2 in the UK sometimes soon before Christmas and I want to fiddle with one now, knowing there is about to be a price reduction is great news!:D

Unlikely. Very Unlikely.

O2 changed some cheaper tariffs for the iPhone recently (not seen on Apple.com, but on O2.co.uk), so it's already partially cheaper.

And £100 is a heck of a lot. That would make it £169. Thats around $340. Thats $59 cheaper than in the States - this would never happen. Never. Ever.
