How can a small business afford 48 iPad 2s?!

On topic: that doesn't surprise me :D I had a 1st gen iPhone and got bored of it fairly quickly because it was very limited at launch. That put me off the iOS system for a few years. I recently bought an iPad and it's came along so far, I love it.

The economy is turning around, sllloooowwwllllyyy.

Our company give out $100 gift cards to everyone!
Hey, its 1/5 the way to iPad! :D

(PS, I would have taken my iPad 16gb to store and paid the difference to get 32GB with 3G! ;) )

Ok, now it's getting slightly annoying. :) I have to constantly hear from my colleagues (who used to make fun of me), about how cool the iPad is and how they found this app awesome, and that this app is better than the app I use. he he he ...

Well .. the bonus was half a month's salary for every employee and the iPad 2 was icing on the cake. We were all half-expecting the bonus part, so they didn't really have to do the iPad part at all. So, it's a good gesture.

LOL. I hear the same thing from recent blackberry converts to the iPhone too.

Just smile and see them enjoy their Apple gadgets!

=)

No one got any pictures of this awesome event? Not just them stacked up.
One of my colleagues or his wife had a few photos I believe. They were the only ones who were interested in shooting photos. :) Our company Christmas part is one of the most fun events everyone looks forward to every year - it usually lasts from 6:00 PM to 2:00 AM and some stick around till 4:00 AM. It happens every year at our CEO's ranch outside of town, and alcohol usually flows very liberally. :) So, folks are more interested in figuring out how to get back home the next morning, and usually nobody clicks a single photo.

Our business did something similar this year but not at the end of the year, we gave 25 iPad's to sales executives, and around 15 more to IT and administrative staff this October to celebrate our 5th anniversary. For end of the year we only gave the usual aguinaldo, nothing special.

I know of a few businesses that have done this. It gets way more bang for the buck then giving out $500 cash. Folks just go nuts for it. For many businesses, it is less expensive in dollars, but way more valuable to the staff.

I know a guy that gave everyone a flat screen TV last year. Blew them away.

As to the IPAD - at least you know there is a very high chance it will

- be used
- work right out of the box and for a long time
- will be talked about to others
- will be easy to use
- family gets to use it

what a deal

Last year my company gave the original iPad 32GB to everyone and we have 30k employees. There was an option to take a cash equivalent.

This year, the anti-apple crowd won out and the funds are shifted into a new compensation structure based on of fiscal year. The Android fan boys were the grinch that stole Christmas with their complaining.

On a side note, if we switch our corporate plan to AT&T the iPhone 4S is free through a company payroll credit.

Yeah it gets old after a while. I was first to have a big screen tv of my friends and now every single one of them comes to me to ask/talk about there's. The most annoying was when one girl bragged about her room mates tv to me... Another about her boyfiriend's.

Anyway. Sounds like your work place is great! They hiring?

We just hired several programmers. So, no more hiring for a few months till we finish building the new building to house all the new folks. :)

It seems everyone has something bad to say about the iPad, right up until the point when they get a chance to use one.

You are lucky to be working for what sounds like a great company with good management.

I work for a world-wide manufacturing company. My plant is the best performing plant in our division, and we got a frozen turkey as a christmas bonus. Our plant profited over $13 million.

Our CEO made a speech a few months ago stating the same: every employee gets an iPad. Too bad, he never touched upon the point again. Anyhow, I own 3 of them already so have no use for another one.

The company my father works for did the same thing. Small business in the midwest focused on semi parts. Just a bonus for the employees. He has no clue how to use the thing and doesn't seem interested in it though. Stubborn.
