Storage always.....

can be helpful and it is a commodity in mobile tech. What bothers me is the ease to lost a phone and the data associated. No matter software or hardware- based locks.....

:):apple:

I personally would love having 128 GB of storage on an iPhone. As it currently stands, I have to convert my iTunes library down to 128 Kbps AAC in order for it to sync and still have enough room for photos/videos/apps. With my music library being around 29 gigs at 128 Kbps (It would be around 49 if I did it to 192 Kbps AAC), I still have room for other things. A 128 gig iPhone would mean I could sync my entire 8,000+ song library without having to convert it for it to fit. Why would I need to store everything locally with all of these excellent streaming services? The good old Sprint network makes streaming services unusable unless you're connected to Wi-Fi (for the record, they were my former employer of 6 years; It's going to get worse before it gets better). First world problems at its finest.

The regular consumer is fine with 16gb. Most people dont loaf their entire music library on a phone. I have a 64gb and still had 32gb of free space. 16gb phones are still the base models for most manufacturers. I don't see apple dripping their phone prices by $100. No way.

It's a good guess but I don't know where all this 'Plenty of people buy they 16 and don't seem to mind that capacity'

Apple should be setting the benchmarks, we're so laxed that Apple is sinking to let them carry on with this idea.
If they don't know much about phones, storage and premium price they need to go for iPhone 5C. So to stay competitive the iPhone 5S needs to beef up.

I know we're only hoping for 32GB to be standard but this too also differentiates iPhone flagship and iPhone mid spec. Just like how the iPod touch has a cheaper 16GB version compared to the 32GB/64GB

I definitely think 32GB should be the starting point with all the multimedia stuff Apple touts. Photostream takes up a gig, the OS takes up about two. As the megapixels of the camera get larger, so do the photos. And with 1080p video, a completely empty 16GB iPhone can take about two hours of video.

And the only way this stuff simply deletes is if you hook up your phone to your computer, load the photos/videos then delete.

I know a lot of older people who think 16GB is enough. But I also agree that it would be a good way to differentiate from the C-series phones. I'm just hoping the 128GB option is $399 so I can afford it. I'm also wondering if that means the death of the iPod classic, but that's a discussion for another time!

^ sounds simply enough to me.

The only ones who wouldn't be able to do this are those who are too lazy to organize files via their computer. For those people even a 128gb option wouldn't be enough since packrats would just eventually fill up that amount of space and start complaining for a 256gb option :p

I don't want to appear short sighted and say that I would never need 128 GB on a phone, but at this point, I can't foresee it. I'd have to load a lot of videos onto the phone to even get close to taking up that much space. It'd be great if the 32 GB were the base @ $199, though, but that might just be wishful thinking.

I really hope they don't do any of this 429 or 449 crap. My opinion i think they missed a huge window of opportunity when they released the ipad mini at 329. I know its only 30 dollars but the looks of 299 vs 329 is huge to the avg buyer. I hope they keep it at 399 499. No need to do this in between junk.

All the current models are at $*49 price points ($649, $749, $849 for 16, 32, and 64 GB).

It's simple, but kind of annoying. If I plug up my iPhone anywhere on my home's WiFi network, it will sync all the iTunes purchase-type stuff (music, movies, books, etc.) over WiFi. Photostream will save my photos to the cloud on any WiFi network, which is really nice.

But this whole system is lacking something to get my photos and videos off my phone and synched with my Mac. I'm guessing this is because iPhoto manages photos instead of iTunes. I understand this is something that won't work for Windows people, but it would be REALLY nice for WiFi sync to include this.

The main reason it's a pain is I have one USB-to-30-pin cable in my car to go from my power source to the phone when needed. I have another in my bedroom that plugs into a power strip with a USB port. The absolute only reason I seem to ever need one of those cables for my computer -- or have to take one from elsewhere into the room -- is for photo management.

I plan on getting at least a 64GB iPhone 5S because I have hated having only 16GB on my 4S. I was stupid to do that two years ago to try to save $100. But I just think this is a major oversight or weakness in the whole Apple media management world.
