4K monitor @ 2560x1440 resolution?

Now I have a perfect 1440p@60hz HiDPI running in my Macbook Pro Mid2014 High Sierra 10.13.3. Using the LG 27UD88 4k monitor using miniDP-DP (certified cable, or so the box says)

Using macOS Display Preferences or SwitchResX? Combination of both?

I'm tempted to try out the gist but not sure I would benefit.

Just macOS Display preferences. the script makes the HiDPI resolutions show up.

Just to avoid any confusion, Omarojo has replied to a nearly two year old thread and is using a MacBook Pro. The previous discussion was about the 12" MacBook (this is the MacBook forum). Very different computers.
