I thought so too. I don't remember reading or hearing anywhere before that the OIS did not apply to video.

In fact, Youtube is full of videos showing off the OIS on the 6 Plus vs the 6, because most people apparently thought the OIS worked for videos, and they felt they saw a difference. If the OIS is indeed not available for videos on the 6 Plus, then this was one of the biggest technical placebo effects ever!

Maybe the bigger phone was just easier to hold still - indirect OIS

I think the 6s has better lighting control, even if it's got more shake to it. The 6s+ just seems too dark. I assume that could be adjusted downstream, whereas the 6 shaking is going to be what it is. Certainly makes me want a 6s+ more than I have, but I'm so rarely shooting video, that it really doesn't matter. I'm more interested in the 3D touch benefits.

1080p is perfectly fine. At a distance, you won't notice the details anyway. In a few years, no one will really remembers 4K. It'll just be one of those "temporary" standard until something better comes along. 8K and 16K will be the next one. By the time you think "Yay, 4K, I have the latest and greatest", they will start announcing the first few 8K displays.

I think 4K is like the 720p TVs. It's better, but not quite there yet. Why bother? Does anyone even think about 720p TV?

4K isn't like 720p, its is a big upgrade I think. But especially more so on larger TV's. But I think the biggest changes coming to TV and Video is UHD, which includes 4K as a piece, but the bigger and more significant changes are adding a wider color gamut, its a huge upgrade, bigger then 4K imo. Also other features as well like HDR video. So as a whole 4K I think is a nice upgrade, but the new UHD spec, as seen in the new blu-ray's that are coming out next year will be huge.

I think 5.1 would be a great size, especially if they get rid of the home button (2-3 more cycles imo).

I am in the same boat as you though, I want the nice features of the plus, matched with a slight bigger screen for emergency catchup on homework, or watching netflix in bed but the plus makes it to where I need two hands to do most of my regular tasks. double tapping the home button helps sometimes but not always and adds an extra step. After this video I am back to wondering if I should get a plus this year but I think in the long run I should stick to the 6s until they give us a 5-5.1 option. That would be awesome.

A 5.1 screen would be the sweet spot. I have thought this for some time.

Or could've which is pronounced similarly to "could of".

Could've isn't exactly pronounced "could of", it's just confused for that. It's pronounced like "couldev". Webster uses the phonetic "kʊdəv".

In any case, it should still be spelled as either "could've" or "could have". Honestly, I think we should start eliminating that contraction entirely. It's too easily confused by the average person.

I'd like to hear the reasoning behind not putting OIS on the normal 6 and 6S. Anything else than space limitatations is unacceptable.

$$$$

I actually can't see much of a difference unless they are side by side like in the beginning of the video. I wonder if HD is as noticeable compared to 4k. Not like I shoot much videos while moving around though. Would have liked to see OIS on the 6S.

I assume this must apply only to 4k video? We've been recording video using iPhones for years without OIS, and I've never had an issue with the stability of the video. Just looking through a handful of my most recent videos from my iPhone 6, they look extremely steady. I'm very curious to see how or why that would suddenly change with 4k.

In March I paid $70 for a 256GB USB flash drive. To charge $200 more for the 128GB iPhone 6s than for the 16GB 6s is nothing more than gouging.
I do not want a phone larger than my 5-inch HTC ONE M8, so I ordered the iPhone 6s. Since it will be used for MANY videos and photos, I had to order the 128GB model. Apple does not allow an iPhone owner to swap his own storage cards.
If I needed OIS, I would have considered the Plus. However, I know how to hold my camera / phone for shake-free photos and videos - I've been doing it for decades.

I don't have shaky hands either, but when you are moving the camera, OIS smooths out the footage, so the benefits are there even if you have a robot arm. Also, I understand they are overcharging, but it's not like there is any competition. Apple products are overall vastly superior, plain and simple.

Funny thing is when the iPhone 6 and 6+ first came out last year all the tech reviewers did video side by sides to show how OIS made the video smoother.

Now we find out OIS never worked on Video until the 6S+

They intentionally or unintentionally rigged their equipment to achieve this.

I would never trade ois for form factor. If all I did was shoot video all day then yes but I use my phone in 1 hand all the time unless I'm typing (just faster with 2 thumbs). I tried the plus twice and returned it. The ergonomics are horrible in my opinion. If I had smaller hands and used both hands all the time I would consider it but wether I'm walking the dog, standing holding on to the subway, having a drink I usually only have 1 hand free.

I'm not fully buying this video. When you pan a camera, you aren't necessarily moving to cause the video to shake. Try it yourself. I think this is a case of someone trying to make the Plus model look better than it actually does. Not taking away from its better stabilization, but the difference is not that pronounced.
