Do you really think you are going to be dropping your phone that much?

I mean I'm not clumsy with electronics and would act extra careful with it haha. But there is always the accidental drop. I just think it would be kind of outrageous to pay $99 for insurance and then only to pay another $49 to get it replaced.

And thank you Jordan921 haha

Isn't the new iPhone expected to return to a metal (aluminum) back? If so, this might reduce risk of damage if dropped and could be a good reason to wait.

I'd at least get a bumper. Apple designed these to not interfere with the minimal look and feel but still not have you break your phone as often if you drop it. And I would wait unless you really need it now. You might not need the expected new features of the new iPhone (5 or 6 or whatever you prefer to call it) but in the future, you might. And since phones are improved upon so much, I see no reason to not get the best if you can wait. This is a different stance than what I take on computers since computers aren't improved upon in the same relative manner as mobile devices.

I haven't had an iPhone since the 3G as I had a blackberry for the last 2 years so the 4S was a huge upgrade for me also. Glad I didn't wait I've had it 3 weeks now and it's awesome.

I was in ther same sort've situation. My upgarde was due last month and it was wait for the next new iPhone or get a 4S. I really have no patience at all and I upgraded from a Black 32GB iPhone 4 to a White 64GB iPhone 4S and i'm very happy i did. I prefer the colour, better camera,it's faster, more storage etc etc.

If the next model blows me away i'll just sell the 4S and buy sim free.

Crazy not to wait. people who are saying not to wait don't know what they're talking bout. The new phone that comes out this year will be nuts. Anyone who thinks its going to be some incremental upgrade is nuts. 4s was incremental. Siri was totally not worth NOT waiting for the iPhone 5. Six months is NOTHING. You know how fast 6 months goes don't you?

Buy the 4s now and either waste your money or be stuck with it in a 2 yr contract or wait a bit for a major upgrade to the iPhone 5.

As they say, "good things come to those who wait". Delayed gratification etc....

When the 4S came out, I was still holding on to my 3GS, but finally got a used 4 off ebay. Best move ever. No way was I going to sign a 2 year contract on the 4S dud. Still happy with the 4, but will jump on the 5 IF it's got a larger screen. If not, there's not much reason to upgrade for me.

If you like the 4s now, get the 4s now. If you can wait and continue using the env I think you should. You could always resell it and buy the next one if you're so inclined.

I don't like cases either, but I pay for accidental damage insurance through my bank so that if I drop my phone and it shatters, I can claim for it.

If you want the new iPhone, just go ahead and get it. It's a great device, a big upgrade from the 4. It's also future proofed for later iOS upgrades because of the dual core processor so it's got a longer shelf life than the 4, which will increase resell value.

If you don't mind me asking, how much are you paying for that insurance? I have PNC, do they do something like that too?

Thanks

It's one of the benefits of my bank account. I pay £25 a month for an added value account and get phone insurance for 3 phones in my household (don't have to be mine), breakdown assistance and a few other bits. :)
