you are proof that there are defective phones out there, ive bought two 3gs's two iphone 4 and there was no problem with a green screen in portrait and a purple screen in landscape, now i have to iphone 4s with this problem
----------
why are people on this forum reporting that they DONT have a problem with polarized sunglasses with their iphone 4s , perhaps they dont have proper polarized glasses (ripped off ) . also may i add that i had no problems with 3gs or 4 , arent they lcd screens?????
You don't get it. Your 3Gs and 4 have a different coating, or perhaps different glass. My 3Gs and 4 were fine too. My 4S turns green thru polarized sunglasses. You assume each screen on all 3 phones is identical. It is not.
I have been to 2 Apple stores and examined every 4S on display. For whatever reason, (different factory maybe) Sprint phones do not have the problem. Non-Sprint white phones have the same problem as black ones, but at a different angle, thus not as pronounced. Their coating or glass is slightly different than black phones. They will turn green at a totally different angle, and appear more pinkish held in portrait orientation.
Some people may think their glasses are polarized but are not. Some polarized glasses polarize light at a slightly different angle, so different people may only see green at a different angle. Some iPhone glass might be cut or coated at a slightly different angle as well.
I was shown 3 different replacement phones, all pulled from different batches with different serial number prefixes. All exhibited the same green color. If someone at Apple says they will replace the phone, they are just reading a script. They can replace it all day, but until the glass coating forumla, or the glass itself, is changed, it won't make a difference.
One solution for now is to find a clear (not anti-glare) screen protector that re-polarizes the glass at a different angle, thus neutralizing the color shift. It's a crap shoot. One brand I tried (freebie with Incipio case) did fix it; another (iFrogz) did not.
I have researched this issue EXTENSIVELY, because my prescription sunglasses cost more than the iPhone...the ONLY solutions for now are either new sunglasses without polarized lenses, or a clear screen protector.
