you are proof that there are defective phones out there, ive bought two 3gs's two iphone 4 and there was no problem with a green screen in portrait and a purple screen in landscape, now i have to iphone 4s with this problem

why are people on this forum reporting that they DONT have a problem with polarized sunglasses with their iphone 4s , perhaps they dont have proper polarized glasses (ripped off ) . also may i add that i had no problems with 3gs or 4 , arent they lcd screens?????

You don't get it. Your 3Gs and 4 have a different coating, or perhaps different glass. My 3Gs and 4 were fine too. My 4S turns green thru polarized sunglasses. You assume each screen on all 3 phones is identical. It is not.

I have been to 2 Apple stores and examined every 4S on display. For whatever reason, (different factory maybe) Sprint phones do not have the problem. Non-Sprint white phones have the same problem as black ones, but at a different angle, thus not as pronounced. Their coating or glass is slightly different than black phones. They will turn green at a totally different angle, and appear more pinkish held in portrait orientation.

Some people may think their glasses are polarized but are not. Some polarized glasses polarize light at a slightly different angle, so different people may only see green at a different angle. Some iPhone glass might be cut or coated at a slightly different angle as well.

I was shown 3 different replacement phones, all pulled from different batches with different serial number prefixes. All exhibited the same green color. If someone at Apple says they will replace the phone, they are just reading a script. They can replace it all day, but until the glass coating forumla, or the glass itself, is changed, it won't make a difference.

One solution for now is to find a clear (not anti-glare) screen protector that re-polarizes the glass at a different angle, thus neutralizing the color shift. It's a crap shoot. One brand I tried (freebie with Incipio case) did fix it; another (iFrogz) did not.

I have researched this issue EXTENSIVELY, because my prescription sunglasses cost more than the iPhone...the ONLY solutions for now are either new sunglasses without polarized lenses, or a clear screen protector.

same

My 3gs had this issue, actually I couldn't even SEE the screen in some orientations.

You'd think somebody would develop a screen protector that would solve the issue (e.g., using circular polarity as per the news item about an Apple patent that was posted above).

As mentioned above, certain screen protectors do solve it.

Dear God, are you serious? This is all you have to whine about? I have a Nikon D3S that does the same thing because of the optics. Should I write Nikon and tell them that I having a bad "experience" because of a natural coating process? Really dude? Seriously? Take the phone back and get one with a gray scale screen and be happy.

Same thing on my Canon 1d. People like to complain about the smallest things.

My Power Support Anti-Glare protector does a pretty good job of minimizing the effect.

Just a different screen build

This is not an iPhone 4/4S difference. It's just the luck of the draw on the screen build.

I had my iPhone 4 replaced under warranty with another iPhone 4 and the new one has similar polarization anomalies while the old one (december 2010) didn't.

and you think that proves anything? if anything, it says to me they are using a newer coating, identical to the 4S coating, on new replacements.

If you look through forums you will see that people had problems with other models . Ok so that's why the original clear plastic protector in the packaging solves the colour issue. none the less I want a phone that is equivalent to the sprint models you mention. I've got other problems with the phone like the speaker turning on during calls and getting stuck on and the caller can't hear me, losing all my emails, charger showing not made for this device occassionly, and that's for both my phones so I suspect a software issue but I googled the lost email thing and nothing comes up. Vodafone will replace our phones. If it happens again I might just get a refund and wait for iPhone 5

Literally everywhere? In the shower?

Do you take your phone in the shower??

My wife's iPhone 4 looks weird with polarized lenses, so it's not just the iPhone 4S.

It's the same in an airplane with a glass cockpit.

And the same in many cars with displays.

Get over it and remove your polarized sunglasses, or wear sunglasses that aren't polarized. It's that simple.

You obviously have a mental problem and I think you should visit another forum. If you don't bother to read everyone's posts and make stupid remarks you should just go away quietly
