Their are many similarities between the two platforms. Each time I buy a new Android, simply entering my gmail username and password is all it takes, the rest of it happens automatically. Apps installed, contacts, calendar, notes, etc. Therefore just like iOS it couldn't be simpler.
That would be great if I were currently an Android user. But how is Android going to find out what apps I have on my iPhone?
The only case for not using and enjoying the many features of Android is for those who are set in their ways and have no desire to learn and grow. Or are afraid of change. Apple has been extremely successful in programming people to believe theirs is the only way. In Apple land complacency is a badge of honor.

I've been in this conversation before. I tell you what I think, and then you repeat what I think, but twisted to make it into an insult. It's a nasty way of having a discussion, but I guess I can play that game.

So to break it down, you think Android is the only way to learn and grow. It's the only way to prove to yourself that you're not afraid. You're very evangelical. Are you sure you're not the one who's been programmed? Is that a true analysis of you, or is is as far off as yours was of me?

No, I don't use Android simply because it's owned by creepy Google. If my Apple phone stopped tomorrow I'd look at Jolla, then MS and if I couldn't find a phone I liked I'd get my Ericsson T39 out of the loft and use that and a paper filofax.

It's not cool to have your life in the Cloud, it's stupid.

As to the afraid of change, yeah count me in, I've only had a computer of various types for 33 years, but Google - NoFluckingChance.

As for your crap about learning and growing, you do that by having a life, friends and interests not playing with a phone.

Congrats by the way, I don't usually bite when somebody goes trolling, but you just succeeded - lol

We are the intelligent Apple connoisseur and customer.

I'm not sure why you're trying to insult all those Apple fans who want a bigger screen.

By now, an intelligent person should realize that Apple is not going to ignore the fact that 1/3 of world smartphone sales are phablets, a product category which fits in perfectly with Apple's desire for high profit margins.

It's no different than when Apple realized that smaller tablets were a huge market as well, and came out with the iPad mini.

(I said are and not is because we needs are. Is, is for singular only, like he is)

Thus my use of "is", sarcastically referring to the fact that you're a single entity claiming to speak for others. You only think you're plural :)

Unless you actually believe that Apple or the reseller you buy from are actually losing money when selling you a phone, that just can't be true. I guess you aren't including the monthly costs in your calculations?

I'm not talking about monthly usage fees (those would apply regardless of which phone I've had).

I'm talking about the hardware cost upfront to me. Ex: Pay $200 for an iPhone and 18-24 months later, sell it for $350 jailbroken and unlocked (netting ~$300 after shipping, transaction fees, etc).

I'm not sure how the android re-sale market is, but I doubt it is as strong as the iPhone's.

People think they know what they want. Apple understand this by not doing focus groups. People want the best and they want products that fit their needs and integrate seamlessly into their lives. Phablets do none of this as they are jack of all trades and masters of none.

I am not insulting people who want phablets. I am just saying these people want a product which is a master of nothing and Apple (mostly) does not make products that are masters of nothing.

Can Apple turn a good for nothing concept (phablet) into something people want?

Given that there are 100+ million phablets being sold, I don't think that we need to wait for Apple to do anything. If that's a market they decide not to participate in, then fine, I can always go elsewhere for my phone needs. They probably can't beat the Note 4 anyway, so it's not like I would really be forced to get a sub-par device. I've been happy with the iP5 so I would be perfectly happy staying with Apple, but unless they make something I want, I can't.

Phablets do none of this as they are jack of all trades and masters of none.

A 5.5" iPhone 5 would be better for me in every regard than my current 4" iPhone 5, even if nothing else would change. If phablets are jack of all trades, masters of none, then tiny-screened phones just simply suck at everything.

Apple does do focus groups after a product is out, to see how well they did. They also keep track of what other companies are selling.

An opinion which doesn't seem to be shared up by the over 1/3 of the world's smartphone buyers who currently choose phablets.

I am not insulting people who want phablets. I am just saying these people want a product which is a master of nothing and Apple (mostly) does not make products that are masters of nothing.

Prepare to be disappointed, as it looks like Apple is doing a phablet :)

Apple doesn't like losing profitable sales.

It's no different than when an Apple SVP tried a Samsung 7" tablet, decided that smaller tablets were a viable market after all, and came out with the iPad mini.

Now it's happening with larger screens. Heck, Apple's own leaked documents from the Samsung trial, showed they knew why they were losing sales:

Quality and profits > raw numbers sold as you well know.
And yes I am aware the rumours look very indicative of what Apple will be selling soon. I do not agree but I it will make Apple more billions in June short term so that is a good thing for Apple.

What you say is 100% correct. I just do not like the possible longer term implications this could have for Apple this is all.

But if Apple can sell the larger phones very well and give the sceptics a reason to want the larger iPhones above all others, then Apple will have done well. This iphone I think above all others needs to be advertised well. We need a reason to get this phone. At the moment many people have reasons not to get it. If Apple can re verse this then a BOOM for Apple.
