We publish mockups of the 4.7-inch version, people say "I want to see the 5.5-inch one...where's that?" So we publish mockups of the larger ones and people still aren't happy.
Yes, there have been a lot of mockups...it's that time of year. But it's still a fairly small fraction of our overall coverage, and no one is going to be interested in every story we publish. If this isn't your cup of tea, feel free to move on and wait for something else to be posted.
I always find the large Android phones ridiculous and hoped that Apple would never go that way. Hopefully they still keep the "smaller" version, the 4.7'.
Go to just about any store selling phones that is not an Apple store and you can see every size up to 6"+ phones. I was just in Walmart a few minutes ago and they have 5.5" and 4.7" screen Samsungs plus 6" screens too on display right next to phones only a little bigger or smaller than the 5s.
All this whining based on pictures cracks me up. The difference in (live, in the hand) size from 4" screen to even 6" screen is not that great. Yes, a bigger-screened phone is going to be bigger than a smaller-screened phone, but the difference in the extremes is measured in a few centimeters.
As someone has posted again, wrap a current iPhone in an Otterbox or similar case and you're just about there. Reading some of these posts, you'd think a 5.5" iPhone is about the size of an iPad Mini. It's not even close. Not even remotely close.
As is (too) often posted here: if you don't want a bigger-screened iPhone, don't buy one. The market for smart phones appears to have shifted to screen sizes bigger than 4". Even Apple itself has acknowledged this in the Samsung case revelations. Apple is going there. If "we" cling to anything bigger than 4" is "stupid", "an abomination" and so on because Apple has endorsed 4" as the one and only perfect size for right now, they are about to shift AGAIN (once 3.5" was the one and only perfect size and everything bigger than that was "an abomination" until Apple rolled out the bigger screen). Apple also said that anything less than 9.7" was much too small for a good tablet; then they rolled out a 7.9" iPad and have sold millions of them.
If you objectively believe that 4" is the perfect size, hope that Apple makes a 6 in that screen size too. Otherwise, the diagonal screen size difference of 4" to 4.7" is very little. Those wanting even bigger are willing to give Apple money to build them for them. Apple apparently sees enough money there that it wants to build them rather than trying to make that market segment settle for 4.7" or 4" or 3.5" instead.
Every thread is the same: "way too big", etc... until Apple launches it… then it's "shut up and take my money" and "best iPhone ever!" It was the same with the transition from 3.5" to 4":
(1-prerumor and early rumors)detest & bash,
(2-as rumors began to pile up)"it's kind of growing on me",
(3-when it seemed inevitable that Apple was about to change) "I'll wait & see"
(4-when Apple launched the change) "shut up and take my money."
Haven't we seen this movie over and over before?

The mockup adopts the iPod touch-style curved edges
I've just unsubscribed from push notifications - enough of MocRumors for me.
I'll still visit, once in a while, for the hope of some more substantial news and true rumours![]()
Not sure why anyone would want to have a phone that big.

Honestly, what is wrong with the U.S. and their huge freaking phones?
Like going back to the brick age. Every time I drive up next to somebody talking on their samsung Note or Galaxy, it looks like they are holding a dang iPad to their face. Looks really stupid. Remember JnCO jeans with the HUGE pockets? Gonna have to make a comeback, because you can't fit a 5.5 inch phone in a pocket without looking ridiculous.
I am more than fine with a 4.7" display... It is somewhat logical. 5.5", however...
As for me, I'll stick with [what I believe was] Jony's/Steve's opinion - sexy is not freaking Ginormous.
IMO, don't hate.
