Hope not! I want to buy a phone based on screen size, and not be forced to use a bigger screen to get better performance.
I don't think it will be a different processor per se, just clocked differently like iPad and iPhone processors are clocked slightly different

I doubt this. Why would Apple make two types of 'iPhone' under the same brand.
For the same reason, most likely, that they do just that with the iPad. The A7 in the RD Mini runs at a lower clock speed than the one in the Air. It's all about battery, cooling, power and efficiency.

Ok lets do a roundup of the rumors on differences between the 4.7 & 5.5":

Different processors
Different touch module
Different glass material
Different camera lens system

If all these turn out to be true, it will be a stretch to call both the iphone 6!

True that, afraid that the 4.7" iphone 6 would be the "c" version. :(

Even if true - So what?

The users who want the 4.7" screen would be butt hurt since they know they dont have the 'top of the line' iPhone. I dont see it as an issue though. People went with the 5C knowing that it had older internals than the 5S though, so idk \(o_0)/

But bigger screen means a space opportunity for bigger processor and bigger battery (to support bigger processor) and more space for heat dissipation(?).

To support a bigger graphics chip to support a bigger screen?

Traditionally I could could get a faster MacBook Pro with a 17" screen vs. a 13", which was a disappointment.

For the bigger die to be true, the 5.5 would have to have a higher resolution screen compared to the 4.7. In that scenario, it makes sense.

The iPad Air is a lot bigger than the Mini, but it didn't receive a bigger die.

I smell a 6S 6C in the works..... 5.5 sounds awesome if it'll have better specs but it can't fit it my pants though.... Specs vs Comfortability

I thought Apple moved away from larger screen size = better specs with the iPad Air retina Mini? Yeah I know the specs aren't exactly the same but they both use the A7 chip. Makes zero sense that Apple would reverse themselves a year later with iPhone. Honestly I think this rumor is BS, but if Apple releases two new phones and gives the larger screened one better specs there will be a lot of unhappy people. Not everyone wants a phablet.

This will be the second big mistake made by Apple after Apple Maps introduction.
To force the people who want the greater and smarter buy a PHABLET

This sucks. For years Apple opposes large phones for being too big, and now they make it their flagship phone? The two phones should only be differentiated by their screen size, so the consumer can choose what size they prefer.

So i can snapchat faster? Who cares about phone speed? Now if it had a significantly better battery life...

So developers can make more powerful apps, not so existing apps run quicker. But agreed on battery life!

This would tie in with a macbook-esque lineup. I'm thinking iPhone Air (4.7") and iPhone Pro (5.5"). Although I personally think the 'iPhone Pro' should be thicker like the Macbook Pro's for a better battery life. iPhone Air for everyday users, iPhone Pro for those who want a bigger screen, faster processor and better battery life. Just my 2 cents.

EDIT: OMG does this mean I'm an analyst

This rumor sounds like more than just a slightly faster clock speed. Can anyone really even tell the difference between the mini and the Air during normal usage?

This is what I feared. Not everyone wants a large phone, but that doesn't mean they want inferior technology.

That might be fine, but am not sure if Apple will be able to charge an extra 100 for the 5.5 inch iPhone 6 since the are Samsung phones that are bigger still selling at the $200 with contract price.

Maybe the new iPads will also have the larger die? Or maybe the iPhone (base?) and the iPad Mini will share specs and the iPad Air and the iPhone (bigger?) will have upgraded dies. We'll see in a few months.

What would this "iPhone Pro" do that the "iPhone Air" wouldn't? What if I want better battery life and a faster processor but not in phablet form? For me to buy into this the "Pro" device would have to have feature and capabilities that are only available on that device and only make sense on a larger screen. Not differentiation just for the sake of it or just to justify a larger price tag. Not something that will force people to have to make a compromise just because of screen size.
