You do understand that's not true? You do understand you'd probably still be rocking a flip phone if it wasn't for Apple, right?

I agree with you and would go a bit further and say that the next step to make charging less of an issue is not contact charging, but contact-less charging. With any of the contact charging solutions, you still need to plug in a cord for the contact pad, so it's not exactly wireless as it's promoted. And Apple is working on it, as are others, but it's years away still. I'd be fine with going to a mag-charger connection, if they could make that work, so as to remove yet another hole in the iPhone's case.
The thing with shifting to OLED that will be the biggest change is going from primarily white backgrounds to black, in order to maximize battery life. I agree that I'm not sure how much better the iPhone screen can get - at least improvements that I will actually notice.
a top notch OLED screen like the ones used in Galaxy S7,S6 Edge Plus,Note 5 will easily wipe the floor with any IPS including LG G5s.I don' t know the ips panel on the new lg G5 seems sweet too.
Before they switch to oled, these lg lcd screens will hold up very well for the next 1 or 2 years, and Apple currently uses lg screens in their products. So why not in the iPhone 7.

It's just superior colors and superior blacks.IPS cannot match that no matter how good,it's a technically inferior tech.
Since Owning a Note 5,I just can't look at ANY other phone's screen and not feel "downgraded".fact.
Are you revising history and trying to tell us that Apple invented the fingerprint reader? Didn't they buy Authentec, which Toshiba was already using?Ok, I' ll bite.
Fingerprint reader?
First. 64 bit soc and still leading.
Samsung pay?
I'd be curious to know why Apple cannot or will not reduce the size of the upper and lower bezels.Indeed they do. These huge bezels waste so much of useful screen space (or make the device so much bigger than it should be).
Ok, and Samsung? Are you revising history and trying to tell us that Apple invented the fingerprint reader? Didn't they buy Authentec, which Toshiba was already using?
Apple Pay took Google Wallet and improved on it. Samsung Pay/LoopPay took Apple Pay and improved on it.
Iterative innovation. You can hardly give Apple sole credit for either of those
Just see what samsung did last year or maybe year before to see what new innovations apple brings this year...It amazes me how the rumour mill now has to skip a few generations of phones to be mildly interesting.
It's a strong sign the iPhone 7 may be lackluster. I'm hoping Apple has a few surprises up their sleeves at this years announcement.

My Nexus 5, 5X, 6 and 6P models all have sleek narrow bezels that look even smaller when side by side with my iPhone 6 Plus and 6S Plus models. Particularly striking is my Nexus 6P, which when side by side with my iPhone 6S Plus, looks very compact.
Both phones are the same physical size +/- 0.1 mm, yet the iPhone looks huge because of its relatively small 5.5" display. Conversely the Nexus 6P looks small and compact, plus it offers a spacious 5.7" display that dwarfs the bezels. It's a beautiful smartphone.
Ironically it's Google that demands excellent designs from its handset makers, who in turn make Jony Ive look like he's asleep.
What happened to Jony, has Apple gutted his power to do great designs?
That's why we have choices, buy what you like.I agree with you on the bezels.
But otherwise all nexus phones really don' t have a nice design.
I think apart from the lines , the iPhone 6 has a rather nice design. Nicer than the nexus line.
Yeah, you will notice the screen difference between a good OLED and an LCD if you put them side by side. But will you notice a difference or respond differently to the screen when you are out and about? And Apple is manufacturing its Phones with an expected four year useful life, maybe longer with the current generation. (Albeit that useful life is enjoyed by two to three owners.) How well will OLED screens hold out over four years? I think Apple is staying with LCD until there are no downsides to OLED.
They sell over 200 million phones per year. I seriously wonder if they are worried about how it will hold up over 4 years.
I think it is a huge concern. Android makers do not have to worry about that since no one expects their phones (with perhaps the exception of Samsung Galaxies) to last that long and still be being used.
I've got an iPhone 4 on craigslist now that I'm attempting to sell for $60. So far I'm getting nibbles. I think it will find a happy home and go on to its third user (first me, then my Mom, and now whomever buys it).
Why do you think it is a big concern for Apple? Ideally wouldn't they actually want everyone to replace their phone every 2 years or so? Why would they care about resale value of a 4 year old phone?
