If this is in the 7s cycle in 2017.
It would mean we could get a 5.8 inch ips model this year. iPhone pro?

This paves the way of a 4.7 inch iPhone 7 and 5.2 inch iPhone 7+ .I will definitely get the 7+ then!
That assumes that there will be an "s cycle" this time around. Next year is the 10th anniversary of the iPhone. It seems like good opportunity to shake up the lineup a little bit.

The two-year cycle made sense when people had to sign two-year contracts to buy an iPhone.

Yes, true..
Anything can change. Hope we get a bigger iPhone pro in 2016 though and a reduced in (screen) size iPhone +.
Keeping my fingers crossed

Still no news on the March event? I would have thought they would want to get the new products into their shops in time for the Easter break to maximise sales.

Thank God for a true innovator like Samsung pushing tech and innovation to the limits. Otherwise this industry would be stuck with a 3.5 inch rectangle with rounded corners, and 720P resolution. How innovating!

You do understand you'd probably still be rocking a flip phone if it wasn't for Apple, right?

So basically what this is saying is in 1-2 years we'll have:

iPhone se, bad specs, many features missing
iPhone, normal specs, features missing
iPhone + normal specs, few features missing
iPhone pro: good specs

Rip 4-4.7 phone users

Be very careful in underestimating the popularity of the iPhone SE. The VAST Majority of users have never even heard of these forms, let alone the discussions of feature sets.
IMO, the SE will account for a minimum of 35% of all iPhones within 15m of introduction. :apple:

A 4,7 screen in a smaller body would be perfect for me. Tried the Plus size, and I got tired of it in 15 days.

Right. It's so much better now ... ;-)

I'm in for a larger phone. I'd imagine if Apple is seriously reviving the 4" form factor, they figure the other two can get larger... we'd essentially have 4", 5", and 6" phones.

A bigger screen size would be great if they keep the size of the phone to as minimal as possible. I have always preferred larger displays (Since I bought the Samsung Galaxy Note II a few years back). So if they increase the 5.5 inch phone by 0.3 inches I would be most pleased. If this happens all I need after that is a built in stylus, then I would be over the moon! Probably won't happen, but that doesn't stop my right to dreaming!

Now where are those members who were getting headaches in OLED and stating LCD to be superior?

Apple seems to be copying Samsung literally every inch of the way.Sammy is the true innovator here otherwise we would be stuck with LCD
Ok, I' ll bite.
Fingerprint reader?
First. 64 bit soc and still leading.
Samsung pay?

And in coming note 6? 3D Touch ?

Don' t get me wrong. I think their oled is much nicer than the ips on the 6/s+.
But to call Samsung innovators?
No, just a very good manufacturing company of electronic parts and displays.

Easier said than done. Apple is deeply tied to Touch ID technology which requires a sizable home button
They could reduce it by making a touchid bezel on the lower bezel, instead of a bigger button. Just a small strip. Or they could integrate it in the screen
Itself, and make a 3D Touch on screen button with touchid integrated in the screen.

It's going to be 2016 or 2018. There is no way they are going to do this in 2017 on the well established S cycle.

Hopefully the 5.8 is the Pro model and has extra features over the mini, standard and Plus models.

Nice, then it might mean the whole 3 or 4 phones line could come to reality, in which case I'd gladly take the New 7+ with 5.5.
5.8 is just too big for my taste, I'd get an iPad mini instead.
